ABOUT ME
I have a wife and two girls. I'm friendly, happy to meet new people and see interesting places. I grew up in country Western Australia and moved to Perth to live about 20 years ago. I love travelling with my family or by myself. Although I'm getting older,I feel no different than 20 years ago. It's good to be active and get outside doing things. I'm more a an ancient stone circle man than a lover of contemporary things. I don't think anyone can see too many stone circles, but my family thinks if you've seen one you've seen them all and even seeing one is a bit boring. If some of my love for ancient relics rubs off on my children I'll be happy. We've met some celebrities like Pink, Avril Lavigne and the members of Westlife and once went on an adventure cruise for a week on a luxury boat. Normally, we're just ordinary people who like to enjoy ourselves as life is too short to be miserable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new and interesting people. If it was a choice between staying at a nice hotel or staying with people I'd chose staying with people. Learning how people live and what they are like is something important to me.

Interests

Apart from travelling, I love to be at home with my family, dog and cat. It's always good to travel off the beaten tack to where there's fewer people and something interesting to see. I've been to the southern most inhabited place in Tasmania (Cockle Creek - population 5) and the first part of Australia to see the sun rise (Mt Warning). It's those sorts of things that interest me the most.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like the idea of sharing knowledge about things. As my children know, I can talk to anyone. I used to work as a journalist, so I like asking questions and finding things out about people. Everyone has an interesting story and I like hearing about it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can have interesting talks about life in general. I'm a bit of a handyman (lived in our current house for 20 years without the need to employ a tradesman!) so I can have a go at fixing something. I've met some interesting people along my journey and can share experiences in the places I've travelled to. I've done some interesting things like scuba dived, a solo parachute jump (once is enough!), had a go at jet boarding with a water jet pack on my back and had the pleasure of going to many cities around the world.
