About Me
Hello! My name is Colleen & I am from Texas, USA! After graduating from University in December 2016, I've been on the road. I spent 4 months in the beautiful New Zealand (I am in love with that place) before coming to Europe. I plan to backpack around a bit more before returning home in December.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really enjoy traveling alone, but sometimes it's nice to stay a bit with someone & experience their company. It pains me to know I won't get to immerse myself in another place -- develop friendships, live in the culture, make a mini life for myself -- like I did with a 4-month stay in New Zealand, but I figure Couchsurfing is a better way to understand the life of a foreign place, rather than a hostel. Of course I want to see the infamous tourist spots, but a famous structure can only do so much for me. I want to learn the place, see the life, from a local.
Interests
Hiking, walking, reading, journaling, healthy living, Netflix, music, chess, listening to stimulating conversations, learning new things, swimming, musicals
Music, Movies, and Books
Kings of Leon, The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, The Killers, Shakey Graves, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Folk/Americano, Classic Rock
Harry Potter! I'm in the middle of Game of Thrones, & plan to start Lord of the Rings at some point... they're just too heavy of books to lug around in my backpack at the moment. But I enjoy almost any book! I've enjoyed exchanging them at hostels, too, which is my current method of deciding what I read.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Honestly, my travels are the most amazing thing I've done thus far. So, beside that obvious one... I'd have to say.... zorbing. Rolling down a hill in a big, plastic, water-filled ball. Life changing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could probably teach you English... I can also probably teach you piano. I know both, I've never taught either.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have only a backpack, so I won't take up much space. I have my own towel. I can probably leave you a book. I can tell you stories about my life. I enjoy alone time & can manage well on my own, so don't feel as though you need to entertain me 24/7. But of course, it's your home, & as part of my reason for Couchsurfing, I'd love to converse :-)
