About Me
PHILOSOPHY
-I love to learn, whether from books, conversation, or being out in the world. I believe you can learn something from everything and everyone, and I try to.
-I am extremely positive and incurably optimistic. In 7th grade a teacher called me out in class for "smiling too much."
-I believe people are made up of stories, and I LOVE stories. I want to hear them all.
-I strive to always respect, never judge.
-“If a person’s behavior doesn’t make sense to you, it is because you are missing a part of their context. It’s that simple.” - social psychologist Devon Price
PRACTICALITIES
-I need my alone time, but I also love people. I like a good balance. No pressure to hang out with me if you're too busy! I'm happy doing my own thing or something together.
-I am truly very easy to get along with. I'm clean and respectful of your space, possessions, beliefs, and time. I have never NOT lived with roommates, and I get positive reviews from all of them, haha.
-I am very adaptable and open-minded. I will eat *almost* anything, abide by your schedule, play with your pets(!!), and sleep wherever needed.
OTHER THINGS YOU SHOULD MAYBE KNOW
-I have a deep and abiding love for the Legend of Zelda video games. I once drove 546 miles to sing in a single performance in the choir of the "Symphony of the Goddesses," an orchestra that plays nothing but music from the Zelda games. It was awesome.
-Speaking of singing, I sang a cappella for four years in college. I love to sing and write music.
-I could talk about Game of Thrones allllll dayyyyy. And I have before.
-I love food and am about as far from picky as it gets. My favorite food is chocolate, though. Hands down.
~**DISCLAIMER**~
I only recently discovered couchsurfing, but as soon as I did, I loved it. I know I don't have many reviews yet, but I plan on this being the beginning of a long career as both a host and a surfer. I'm not hosting at the moment because I'm traveling myself, but when I get back, I hope to continue to travel vicariously by hosting! If you take a chance on me now, you'll always have a place in my heart, and on my couch, as one of my first couchsurfing friends ^_^
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I travel, I'm not interested in hopping from one tourist attraction to another. I'm interested in having a unique adventure, meeting unique people who can show me what's unique about the places they call home.
On the flip side, I also want to represent my home state of North Carolina for the world! There are some wonderful people in this state and I want to share that.

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC
I'm particularly partial to anything with interesting lyrics. Lots of folk and indie, but also pop, rock, hip hop, musical theater, anything. I love live music and that magic feeling of singing along with a crowd or a jam session! Favorite artists include Sara Bareilles, Regina Spektor, Jason Isbell...and I'm a recovering Taylor Swift superfan...
MOVIES
Favorites are The Incredibles and The Princess Bride. I like comedies, dramas, animated movies, and the occasional scary movie as long as I have a blanket to hide under.
BOOKS
As many as I can get my hands on! Libraries and bookstores are some of my favorite places in the world. I like fantasy as well as realism. Favorite books include the Harry Potter series, the His Dark Materials series (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass), Anne of Green Gables, The Bell Jar, and All The Light We Cannot See, just to name a few.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was lucky enough to stay for a few days with the family of one of my very best friends, on her grandfather's tree farm in northern Sweden. My friend and I swam in the lake (although the water was FREEZING), ate smoked fish, cloudberries, and homemade cinnamon rolls, went out to see the midnight sun, and literally frolicked through fields of wildflowers. In exchange for all of this hospitality, all my friend's grandfather asked was that I stand on his front porch and sing him a song :) My wonderful memories of this time are part of what inspired me to want to couchsurf more. Those few days showed me that living with locals is much more meaningful than staying in an impersonal hotel or even a hostel.
Teach, Learn, Share
TEACH
I have studied and worked in the field of psychology for my whole career and can share a lot of interesting facts and stories about it!
LEARN
I want to learn literally anything you're willing to share with me. I especially love learning new languages, so if you speak a language I don't, I've love to learn some words and phrases! I also love to learn people's personalities and their beliefs about the world. Oh, and I'd love to know your favorite recipes/local eats.
SHARE
My toothbrush. Just kidding. See below.
What I Can Share with Hosts
-I love to cook and would be happy to help out in the kitchen if you're interested.
-I'm a very clean person. Once I leave, it'll be like I was never there at all, except for the good memories you'll be left with, haha
-I love to share good conversation. There are few things I find more satisfying.
