About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I feel the most alive when I travel & am making sure I take the time to live.

ABOUT ME

I'm the girl next door who was the only girl in the family so you can imagine their initial disappointment when I cried after being put in a pink dress. I've been a tomboy ever since, though now I actually know how to wear make up and recently discovered the wonder of wearing a dress.

I'm a native Long Islander without the accent. My family teases me that I sold out for the west coast. They are kinda right.

I grew up playing sports and still play soccer to this day. Basically I'm addicted to endorphins -- used to play lacrosse, street hockey with the boys, track & field, tennis with dad, and while in Ireland picked up Hurling. I surfed when I lived by the water and snowboard each winter. Studied Kung Fu til Neo came along and showed me up. And I actively hike. That being said, I'm not against a night in with a good movie or TV show.

I work as a freelance writer. In between gigs people pay me to watch their dogs and or houses. Ultimately I'd love to become Tina Fey in that I get to run my own comedy show... but I'd also be okay with a body switch situation. It's either that or just become a Jedi. I'm cool either way.

I'm easygoing and don't require much. My mom raised me right so I'm polite and respectful. I'm also self diagnosed OCD so I clean up after myself like a boss.

I'm also kind of a secret nerd who has an application in to Hogwarts to be the guidance counselor. Still waiting to hear back...

PHILOSOPHY

Might be cheesy but...

"Be the change you hope to see in the world."
Basically, what I think Gandhi really meant was -- don't be a jerk.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After coming back from my couchsurfing tour of Europe, I strongly believe in paying it forward.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was a newbie to this experience until July 2013 when I did a mini tour of Europe (Ireland, London, Munich, Prague, Berlin). Afterwards I don't see why you'd travel any other way. The people are lovely and you get to experience pockets of the world not always found in a tour guild book.

Interests

I could talk TV for hours. Don't even get me started on X Files or Arrested Development.

Love sports.

I feel at home in a Farmer's Market.

Tea over Coffee.

Love animals - wanted to be a vet til I found out about all the eight years of school. Now I'd rather just write dialogue for a doctor.

I live to eat, definitely not the other way around. Love Indian, Thai, & Vegan -- though I'm not vegan myself.

Music, Movies, and Books

TV: X Files, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Friday Night Lights, Downton Abby, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Parks & Rec, New Girl, Louie, Mindy Project, Veep, Silicon Valley, Master of Sex.

Movies: American Beauty, Fargo, Anchorman, Little Miss Sunshine, Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and I have this thing where every time Jaws is on I have to watch it. I'm also a big fan of documentaries, do yourself a favor & watch Marwencol on Netflix right now (or at least add it to your ever growing queue.)

Books: I should read more but I only really know about Harry Potter and those fake books by Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert.

Music: I really need to update my iTunes library. Help wanted. (I'll listen to pretty much anything including country -- I don't hate)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In high school I got to perform a monologue on the NYC stages of RENT.

Crashed a wedding in India.

Been to Helsinki for a documentary shoot about the strongest woman in the world.

Worked on the West Wing's final season as an intern and had Martin Sheen introduce himself to me, twice.

Visited my 70 year old second cousin in Baja Mexico and he drank me under the table.

Teach, Learn, Share

I wouldn't limit myself but I'm partial to Adventurous Spirits, Old Souls, & Good Storytellers.

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, India, Ireland, Mexico, United Kingdom, United States
