ABOUT ME

I am a landscape artist who has many other interests and hobbies. I love teaching, and currently instruct art lessons and water aerobics. Animals are very important in my life; we currently have 3 dogs and an elder cat who I adore. I'm a vegetarian, but not a preachy one; cooking is another passion of mine. I read cookbooks as if they were novels.

PHILOSOPHY

My artwork says a lot about me: I am all about the ephemeral moments in life, those fleeting times of sheer beauty, or anger, or pain. Capturing the light as it falls on a river or a stream of cars in traffic helps me feel both mortal and immortal.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been a member for many years but have never been able to coordinate my travels with the right couch. Yet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nothing specific to CouchSurfing the organization but I have been an unofficial couch surfer in my younger life.

Interests

Besides the art gig, I have 4 rescued animals and love spending time with them. Run agility with my rat terrier, spend a lot of time hiking with mutts, etc. I enjoy hiking as long as I can stop and admire what I find along the way. Swimming and biking are up there as well. Amateur bird watcher (love the sparrows as much as the finches)and a complete NPR junkie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Danced on the Berlin Wall in 1989, saw the northern lights from a 747, just watched a goldfinch teach its fledgling how to eat from the finch sock. Hard to hone down what shapes you.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you all kinds of art techniques should you be interested in pursuing painting, drawing, or sculpting. I have experience in pretty much every media you can imagine. I am also a junior naturalist and enjoy sharing what I have learned about the natural world as we know it.
