About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn, enjoy, sing, dance, teach, help.

ABOUT ME

All about me? Well I want to see as much of the world as I can. The nice and not so nice parts.

I want to deeply understand the forces that make our society move in the hope that with this understanding I can contribute to change the parts of it that I don't like.

I guess I like to learn stuff, meet new people, listen to music, dance. I like to feel that rush of adrenaline on my body when something makes me really happy.

I feel really passionate about my home country, Colombia. But I'm also aware that it doesn't make much sense to love a particular piece of land on this planet just because you were born in it. Nor does it make much sense to love your people more just because they talk, dress, eat, etc... like you. Nevertheless, I still can't help feeling passionate about Colombia. So I'm still trying to figure that one out.

There, now I've told you ALL about me. You won't have to meet me personally anymore!!

PHILOSOPHY

Hmm... if it's not sustainable, it's not for real.

If it's not fair, it ain't smart either.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well for the moment I'd be more than happy to share a drink with some other couch surfer in Johannesburg. But as soon as I a place of my own I hope I'll be able to offer a couch as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, if you mean couch surfing in the more ample meaning of the term (and not only through this website), then I guess I've done quiet some couch surfing. Almost always with family and friends, and just once with a person I hadn't met before (that one didn't fo too well...) My experiences have been quiet positive, people are usually eager to show you their cities, and feel vey proud of them.

Interests

I enjoy football (or what many would call soccer) and am really glad to be living in the country that will host the Fifa 2010 world cup!

I enjoy music. Mostly in Spanish, but also some Brazilian and music in English.

I like to dance.

Travel, photography.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: V for Vendetta, Devil's Advocate, Mr. Brooke, Carlito's Way... those are the ones that have inmediately popped into my mind.

Music: Reggae, reguetón, some Salsa, Rock en español.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I helped victims of Hurricane Mitch in Honduras. I probably didn't realized it back then, but now that I think of it, that is certainly got to be one of the most amazing things that I've done in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I guess I can teach basic computers' stuff. I am also quite familiar with most basic civil engineering concepts. I'd enjoy teaching one of the languages I know as well. Oh! And I know some basic things about photography, can't really be called a teacher in that matter, but I'd be more than happy to share what I've learned so far.

Countries I’ve Visited

El Salvador, Guatemala, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Brazil, Colombia, Honduras, South Africa
