ABOUT ME

I'm an engineering student living in Salt Lake City and attending the University of Utah. I'm interested in research and academia and have been involved in Orthopedic and Genetics research. I'm a hardcore musician, and I enjoy building and modding guitars in my free time. I've always felt travel is an important regiment to life, and the best way to experience new diverse things is getting the local perspective on places. I got a pretty good handle on the Salt Lake area, and the Utah Valley scene. If the timing was right I'm down for trips to any of the national parks. If I am too busy I definitely know people that know their way around I can pass you off too as well. I enjoy trying new brews so if you have a new/local brew to contribute from where you are coming from bring some along.

PHILOSOPHY

I've always believed integrity and being true to yourself is one of the most important things you can do. I also believe in trying new things and expanding your horizons! Lately I've been living my life with the belief that when a door opens to a new experience take it.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I get pretty busy around school but I would love to host people and show people what I know about Salt Lake City and Utah. I currently live in downtown SLC with 5 roommates, but we have a futon and couch and plenty of floor space.

Scuba diving, camping, hiking, building guitars, modding guitars, travel, Coen Brother movies, reading books on philosophy and history, tattoos, trying cuisines unique to certain cities/places, blues and honky tonk country, rock music, catching local music shows.

Music, Movies, and Books

I see good in all types of music but my bread and butter fall into classic rock, grunge, and blues. I dabble in just about everything else though. Specific examples of groups I enjoy would be like Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, Tool, Black Sabbath, Mars Volta, Soundgarden, Tom Waits, Incubus, etc. But I also enjoy things such as the Buena Vista Social Club, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Kaskade, and Above and Beyond to name a few. My music tastes are pretty broad. I love Coen brother films. Hunter S. Thompson and Cormac Macarthy are probably my favorite contemporary authors and I enjoy reading the old greek writings and select philosophy texts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once while Scuba Diving in the Florida Keys I was engulfed by a bait ball of small fish when some large barracuda started swimming through with their jaws open to catch a meal. Fish guts and blood were going everywhere and we got the heck out of there.
