Overview
About Me
I'm a self-employed traveling web designer and a native of SouthEastern Washington State, USA. I'm trying to explore new areas of the country, live off my business and locate this nation's finest apple fritter.
I openly seek to understand the unique worldviews of the people I spend my time with (clients, hosts, new friends, etc.). Race, religion, opinions, and personal tastes have no bearing in my evaluation of good and honest people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm in the beginning stages of a project I'm calling the Tall Town American Roadshow. This is my cheesy way of saying that I'm traveling across America for a period of 360 days, visiting small towns throughout the states and advising local business owners on how to design their websites. I also intend to find local housing opportunities with friendly, honest folks who are accepting of nomads.
Basically, the American Roadshow is this strange little traveling system of mine to cross the US, which involves finding people to host me in their homes a few weeks at a time. I’m also not making any personal income at the moment – a bit of a problem. So I’ve saved up around $10,000 and am crossing my fingers that my web design business Tall Town will pick up enough to start cutting myself regular paychecks. Interests
I've always maintained a broad range of interests throughout my life. I tend to lose interest in any single hobby over a period time and pick up something else that catches my fascination. Hence, I'm not uber-skilled in any single discipline. Maybe good? Maybe not?
I have two major goals throughout the next year:
1) Find an abundance of nice, honest, local folks to host me during my 360 day travels through the US.
2) Operate my web design business in such a way that it supports me entirely
My goal is to travel from Washington State to Maine over a 360 day period, ending in July 2017. From that point, I can assess the viability of the business operation aspect and decide whether I should continue the traveling model or settle down somewhere. I'm truly confident in the viability of my local web design and SEO business, but if that's still not producing enough reliable income to support me and my business partner, I'll have to address my personal finances in some other manner. I'm pretty good at figuring this stuff out though and have a long way s to go before I start stressing about money.
