About Me

CURRENT MISSION

my mission is to enjoy being alive and to experience things that people mysteriously decide not to. i am also trying to be the most decent person possible, to own very little, and to be as generous as i can maintain.

ABOUT ME

i am the sort of person that rather than risk cutting someone off in traffic to make an exit, will drive a mile in the wrong direction just so that i don't inconvenience anyone other than myself.

i also try very hard to be funny, and try even harder not to be funny at inappropriate times. i am poor with directions in all senses of that statement. i am also a bad planner. but i am a good guy. i recently found out that i have awful grammar.

PHILOSOPHY

i think i've already expressed it, somewhere up there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i suppose i participate by being a decent housemate. i dont have a lot to offer people in terms of money or gifts, or whatever. but i look very kindly upon the people who help me out and will do whatever is humanly possible to help them out, under any circumstance.

i think this is just how people should live. be nice. give part of whatever you have.

i can also go on endlessly about various types of music, if you want to spend hours listening to me rant and rave and beg you to listen to things on the internet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i'm slept on a kitchen floor in paris for a month. from there, i went to morocco for a handful of days, then italy, slovenia, croatia, austria, germany, and the czech republic. i couchsurfed in each country for a while.

it was nice.

i also spent time couchsurfing in washington, d.c., mostly at my friend's boyfriend's place. i slept on the couch downstairs, cleaned, and even cooked a little bit.

i have also toured with a few bands and have slept in vans, on pool tables, in bath tubs, in closets, in hotels with ten people, on basement floors, in trailer parks, with dog breeders, drug dealers, and every type of person you can imagine.

Interests

ask me in person. but uh...i try to write a lot. sometimes i write too much.

i try to be deeply personal and share aspects of my personality that are embarrassing, shameful, or unique. i dont know if its a sense of catharsis i'm after, but i feel there is something remarkable about sharing your vulnerabilities with other people, even if they are unwilling to share theirs with you.

i suppose that's an interest, in itself.

Music, Movies, and Books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i was born. i think that fact itself is amazing enough. i dont mean that in an arrogant way, i mean that in just the fact that i am here, experiencing situations and interacting with objects and people, is spectacular.

aside from that, i dont know, probably traveling by myself six hours into the middle of nowhere in Morocco to hang out with some guy i had only talked to a few times through this website.
