About Me
Most people would agree that the place where you grow up plays a colossal role in what person you become. For this New England lad, the backwoods of southern New Hampshire was that special place, and it instilled in me a profound appreciation for the natural world. While most boys my age were playing "cowboys and Indians", I was deep in the forest trying to identify a distant bird call. And while most boys my age were sitting in front of a television or computer screen, I was in the family garden, watching tiny insects crawl along my limbs.
Fast forward fifteen or so years and I'm very much the same person. Yes, the demands of society have taken their toll, but in so doing, they have strengthened my fervor for Mother Earth and ALL of her offspring. I am an ethical vegan, passionate environmentalist, and a strong proponent of peace. I have strong convictions, but I try to be understanding, not judgmental, to those with contrasting conclusions and convictions.
I've already done more talking about myself than I am accustomed to so I'll lighten it up and mention some of the basics. I avoid obnoxious party scenes, and would much prefer sitting around a campfire engaging in good conversation. I love me some Pinot Noir or a strong IPA, but I'll almost always limit it to one (maybe two) servings. I'm an on-and-off cigarette smoker, and while I wouldn't consider myself a "stoner", marijuana certainly plays a significant role in my life. Last, but not least, I LOVE pets, be they dogs, cats, birds, rats, snakes, or tarantulas.
I may add to this down the road. In the meantime, peace, and may the forest be with you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For a plethora of reasons. At the moment, I am homeless, so I unfortunately cannot take travelers in (though I wish to in the future). Currently, this is strictly for my traveling. My photography and journalism keeps me on the road, but it doesn't pay well enough for me to consistently stay at hotels. Even if it did, I'd still choose to stay on a good samaritan's couch over the lifeless environment of a hotel room.
Interests
Trees, animals, meadows, streams, campfires, like-minded people, people from different walk of life, laughing, conversing, discussing, reading, playing piano, playing ukulele, napping under giant oaks, foraging for food, bird-watching, nature photography, sleeping on your couch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went vegan!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to cook mouth watering vegan dishes. I can share wildlife pictures that I've captured in my travels across the country. From Great Egrets in Santa Barbara, to the "total cloud inversion" at the south rim of the Grand Canyon, to the tame White-tailed Deer in Tennessee's Smoky Mountains, I've been blessed with witnessing some spectacular sights and I thoroughly enjoy sharing those moments with others.
When it comes to learning, well, I'm obsessed with knowledge. Whether it's a philosophical discussion, picking up a new instrument, or learning a new trade, I delight in absorbing every bit of information life has to offer.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Pictures, stories, recipes, time, knowledge, sweat... To sum this up, I'll cook for you, visit with you, mow your lawn, take your dog for a walk, weed your garden, and do anything else (well, almost anything ha ha) to make my stay worth your while.
