About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Live life to the ridiculous.
ABOUT ME
I'm a pretty laid-back person. I don't like being stressed, so I avoid it at all costs. When I travel, I take a very relaxed approach and don't try to cram everything in over a short period of time.
I love animals. I'm always happy to talk about life on the farm in Florida, where I grew up. I have lots of random animal facts. And lots of random useless facts in general.
I like wearing strange shoes. I don't like seafood, even though I'm from Florida. I prefer cold to heat. I play guitar, trumpet, and violin but am no great master of any of them. I can drink grand quantities of coffee and take a nap right after.
I think I make pretty good banana bread.
PHILOSOPHY
Relax. Enjoy yourself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to CouchSurfing, but I want to participate by talking with other members of the community and sharing some of the awesome experiences I've had in my travels and life.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've co-hosted one set of people and am looking forward to meeting more!
Interests
I love biology, especially genetics and evolution. I love doing research and teaching others what I know.
I really enjoy photography. I am content to just wander around a city taking pictures of everything and nothing in particular. I especially like stalking bumblebees in gardens because getting a good picture is more of a challenge.
I like talking to people and hearing their philosophies on life.
I like listening to podcasts and playing tetris.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a hard time picking favorites of anything. For movies, I appreciate good acting and an interesting storyline. I like comedies, but also lots of other genres.
My music taste ranges from classical to rock. I guess the artists I listen to most are Ingrid Michaelson, Regina Spektor, Muse, Ray Charles...
For books, I'm a big fan of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the coolest things I've seen was a brain surgery. I was doing an internship with a neurologist and got to watch in the operating, literally feet away. It was amazing to watch. The doctors were all so calm and relaxed. I don't know if I would ever be able to do anything like that.

How to tame a mean rooster: No one likes getting attacked by chickens. Luckily, there's an easy way to establish yourself at the top of the pecking order. The first part is hardest: you have to catch the offending fowl. Once this is accomplished, set it on the ground or on some stable surface and, keeping one hand firmly on its back and wings, make it put its head down. Every time the rooster bobs his head up, put it down again. After a couple of minutes, the rooster should recognize who is boss and leave you alone. You might have to repeat this every couple of weeks - they don't have a lot of brainpower.
I told you I have a lot of random animal trivia.
