About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To plan a trip to the remotest reaches of Japan.

ABOUT ME

I am a viola player in several regional symphonies. Add to that the fact that I'm left-handed and you've got already severely warped but trying hard to fit in somewhere. For the past several years I've been busy making foliage sculpures out of concrete: in other words, I cast actual leaves in concrete and then paint them beautifully and sell them. Some are tiny, some are huge.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to accept reality but not consider it irrevocable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Our community holds regular couchsurfing meetings at the local coffee house. I'm usually traveling and don't attend too many. So far I participate mainly as a surfer, but my house is available.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've traveled in many countries, including the amazing U.S.A., using couchsurfing, global freeloaders, and stay4free. All of my experiences have been memorable and I appreciate the generosity of so many wonderful people.

Interests

My daughter and I once stayed with a man in Lyon, France, who had a planter box on his patio. To thank him, we went to the local farmers market and planted his empty box with herbs and baby vegetables. It was fun, and he appreciated it as much as we appreciated his generosity.

Music, Movies, and Books

Loved "Whale Rider". "Hubble 3D" was awesome beyond words. Music, let's say, Led Zeppelin, Shostakovich, J.S. Bach, and above all, Beethoven, who was OUT THERE.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This summer I traveled to Borneo, northern Thailand, Laos, and Bali. In Borneo I scattered the ashes of a friend and then took a three-day hike in the jungle.I spent my 60th birthday in a treehouse above the gibbon jungle in Laos, where we ziplined into the treehouse.Even though I've been to Australia, New Zealand, Norway, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Scotland and England, this was truly a trip of a lifetime!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like some time to learn more about organic farming, solar power, and strawbale construction. I myself have been a vegetable and fruit gardener for most of my life.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Barbados, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Greece, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In
