About Me

Hello! My name is Conner Mims and I am a 21 year old American Female travelling around New Zealand. I have been in the country for close to 6 months and have 6 more to go. I am currently in Wellington and am in need of somewhere to crash.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am currently in Wellington and have been lucky enough to get a job, the down side however is that I do not have the funds to stay in the hostels until I get my first pay check. (which should be a week or 2 from now.)
With this I am looking for a very kind person to let me stay with them until I get my feet back on the ground here!!

Interests

I enjoy travelling because it encompasses pretty much all of my interest. New people, new places, new foods, music, real education and experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music interest tend to lean toward the acoustic sound. I enjoy some indie/alternative rock as well as some folk.

My movie interest are pretty standard: comedy, romantic comedy, some action, no horror.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well I would say that coming to NZ on my own for a year is probably the biggest thing I have done thus far. I went skydiving back in America instead of going to my high school graduation, I think that is sort of unique.

Teach, Learn, Share

One thing that I have learned over the years originally came through the movie, Into the Wild. Supertramp comes to this revelation that "Happiness is only real when shared," and I have found nothing to be more true than this. At first look you may think that you disagree that there can be great happiness in isolation and solitude. While this is true, it is what we share from those experiences that make them worth having. I have learned that life is not really satisfying without others to share it with. And with that lesson came an even greater one, that though we should share our life it does not have to be with the same people the whole time. This idea of seasonal friendships is a hard one for me to grasp but through my solo travels it has become more and more important.

What I Can Share with Hosts

One thing I would like to share with Hosts is the thought that what you poor into your travelers now will more than likely be poored into other travelers down the line. It seems to me that this working travel experience is meant to come full circle and that we should all pay it forward by helping out when we can.
