About Me
Hello, my name's Connie and I am 21 years old. Grew up and lived all my life in Colorado; I love this state and the beautiful Rockies but I have aspirations of moving to the Pacific northwest either Seattle or Portland. I am an avid volunteer: I lead service trips around the country (currently planning a trip to Atlanta, GE working with refugees at the International Rescue Committee), I have a passion for working with kids through mentoring and education, I also love working with the disabled community through special needs swim, I volunteered abroad in Siem Reap, Cambodia where we built a community center and taught English to kids and older adults, and I am also an activities assistant at Golden Peaks Nursing Home. Needless to say, I am a social justice advocate supporting underprivileged minority groups. I believe very strongly in equity and fairness which is why I'm a pursuing a career in social work.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After volunteering and exploring Cambodia for three weeks this past summer, I came to realize that the world is vast, diverse, and full of many experiences I have yet to try. I am really interested in Southeast Asia and the tremendous growth of developments and tourist industries resulting in a move away from the agrarian lifestyle and a much higher demand for English teachers. The major changes are unfortunately very eurocentric, so I am interested in visiting countries in this area to experience its authentic culture before it's influenced by western culture.
I am mainly on couchsurfing because I want to see the world. Not just through the lens of an American tourists, but to gain the authentic and genuine experience of travel through the eyes of natives and locals.
Interests
I love to volunteer; much of my volunteering is long term (6-12 months) in order to establish genuine relationships with real people.
I love watching Netflix, it's what I do in my downtime.
I like to hike around and visit natural areas.
And I love my cat...a lot.

Music, Movies, and Books
Sometimes I'm into the mainstream music before it gets unbearably overplayed.
I like Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men, the Lumineers, Bastille, the Head and the Heart, and all other kinds of folky music.
For movies I am a fan of About Time, Juno, Crazy Stupid Love, Take Me Home Tonight, and documentaries, documentaries, documentaries, documentaries!!
I'm not a big reader but I like The Time Traveler's Wife, The Help, First They Killed My Father
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have skydived...it was exhilarating, surreal, and made me feel infinite.
