About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Either learn something new everyday, or don't.

ABOUT ME

I'm never bored and always ready to go with the flow. Connecting with just one new person always makes my day. I like trips that are sustained flurries of activity, travel, and new experiences, but I'm also very into finding a nice place and relaxing there with something to read or a few new friends.

Interests

My number one interest is certainly people - one stimulating conversation will leave me inspired and on cloud 9 for the rest of the day. Most often, I'm inspired to read literature, listen to music, sing, write poetry, cook, or find solace out in the woods or on top of a mountain. My schoolwork also keeps me pretty occupied and engaged - I'm a Media Studies Major interested in print journalism and broadcast news.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The darkest day of my life turned out to be one of my all time favorites. It was dark because it poured rain for 10 hours and my fellow backpackers and I had 15 miles we needed to cover. This was in the Adirondack Mountains in New York, probably my favorite wilderness in the world. As we approached the lean-to that was our destination, it became apparent that what had been a manageable river lay between us and our destination. Of course, a full day of downpour had turned the humble creek into a raging rapid. Several of us were almost swept away downstream trying to set up a rope we could use to cross. After we got over the river, the sky cracked wide open and unadulterated sunlight warmed up right up and dried our gear. 2 hours later, all we had to show for it were the memories.

Over a week and a half one time, my worldview changed entirely. In high school, I participated in an exchange program where I stayed at home with a French teenager and lived life with his family. It was my first real foreign cultural experience, and, for the first time, I realized how differently people can see the world. I had been living my life only considering the American perspective, and on this trip I came to know that there are a myriad of ways and they all work just fine. I've been exposed to a Southern French way of life, and I hope to discover many more.
