About Me

What would other people would say about me...

I'm a nerd... Musician, Mathematician, Physicist, Computer Scientist and Logician. Learning is my obsession.

Working on my small talk, but I'm normally pretty laconic. I do much better with "Big Talk" (https://youtu.be/WDbxqM4Oy1Y). We probably have a shared interest - I'm into a ton of things - so if we uncover it you may quickly get lost in broad, deep conversations with me. I'm also a philosopher!

That's the short story. Still here? Here's more.

When I'm not being actively social, I'm mainly focused on what's going on in my head, because I'm an introvert - which is where I'm constantly coming up with ideas (whether I want to or not - I have ADHD to thank for that). I'm an inventor. But I've also learned how to make connections with any kind of crowd! I've "broken out of my shell", and I can even sing and dance in public. 😜 Hopefully you'll find me charming. (And if not, I hope you'll let me know. I love criticism!) I have a cheery disposition these days - though I care more about reality than the "positive" or the negative.

You won't need to worry about me when it comes to being adaptable, I can calmly handle whatever life throws at me. I'm not picky at all (food, movies, etc) and I believe I'm as polite as one could ask (I practice gratitude regularly!).

Though I love a good debate, I've learned the hard way to avoid them with many types of people who can't help but to see it as 'fighting' rather than collaborative self-improvement. But if it's something you would enjoy, I'm pretty good at it! I seek the truth, and am always looking for ways that I'm wrong. Either way, I'll probably ask lots of curious questions!

I don't tend to talk about myself at all (though I sure can!) unless directly asked, because I don't assume people are interested. Please ask! Even writing about myself like this is actually really weird for me; I've revised this section pretty much every time I see it because I still don't like how I sound. 😅

I'm an open book, so don't be afraid to ask anything at all, I promise I'll answer it. (No, really, anything - as a rule! ).

I don't get bored. Never really understood the feeling. There's never nothing to do! But then again I always have an overstimulated inner world to fall back to when there's not much going on in the outer world. In there I'm always trying to fix and improve things about that outer world. That's why I decided to be an inventor. Also because I love learning, and you can never run out of that!

-- UNINTERESTING FACTS (results of the birth lottery)

I live in the Northeast US. Particularly, I spent half my life in New Jersey and half in New York.

I'm the eldest of 7 children... Yes, it's a big, chaotic family. Love it!

Skinny Caucasian guy - mainly Irish. A little too smart for my own good (top 2%). Lots of singing experience.

People say I look like I'm 12. People say I act like I'm 35. Reality says I'm 26. (When I wrote this.) I'm currently between colleges, relationships (polyamorous), and doing not as much traveling as I'd like while I work as a programmer and save money.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that I'm at a good age to start traveling, but as an ordinary middle class citizen, the twin requirements are, as usual, a burden: transportation, and lodging. Most of the problem with the former is the cost of flying, and I'm working on bypassing that with special programs and travel hacking. But finding a place to stay is also an issue, and if I had to rely on hotels, I wouldn't be able to get out much.

Naturally, Couchsurfing really seems to help here. However, I'm also interested in the social aspect of the platform, because they really emphasize the fact that you're not just choosing a couch to crash on, but people to live with. Real people, many of them that would be great to meet even outside of couchsurfing. Here goes!

[I only wish couchsurfing were a fully libre software platform... more on that at fsf.org]

Interests

I'm a backpacker, hiker and cyclist. I like to hike big mountain ranges with friends, but I also do day trips to local camping spots and parks whenever I can.

When I have money I also love to ski, and I'm newly into music festivals. I've also been exploring psychedelics and meditation.

Most of my traveling right now is to conferences and conventions. There's so many places I can't wait to see!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love electronica, and make some myself, and I also love A Capella music and do a lot of that myself too.
That said, I know and enjoy most music you'd find well-known in my country (USA)! Well, not so much in the R&B, hip hop, heavy metal, country and rap genres I'm afraid. Try me!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I managed to change Jill Stein's mind on an issue. As in, I single-handedly changed one of the major positions of an actual US Presidential Candidate. I think that's pretty amazing!
:P
