Overview
About Me
I grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA and am living in Los Angeles doing a year-of-service internship.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been couch surfing across India and have had some incredible experiences. I'm looking forward to hosting people when I return to the states
Interests
I'm a fool for art, particularly literature, film, music and the visual arts. During my time in India, I've had the good fortune to attend such artistically-minded events as the INK conference, Jaipur Literature Festival and Kochi-Muziris Biennale
Interests I picked up in India: playing ping-pong, reading bedtime stories, riding bicycles with no hands, putting Tabasco on most foods, procrastinating on writing blog posts (see: playing ping-pong), making miniature paintings, dancing bhangra, inquiring about the health and fortune of strangers' families

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Errol Morris, Abbas Kiarostami, Satyajit Ray, Wes Anderson (esp. Rushmore), Fellini, Godard, Kurosawa, Billy Wilder, Ross McElwee. I also love the movie Jurassic Park and have seen it more times than I can count since childhood.
Music: I love all types of music of the independent persuasion, particularly hardcore punk (Fugazi, Dead Kennedys), country (Lucinda Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Trampled by Turtles) and country blues (Junior Kimbrough, Lightnin' Hopkins), in addition to global gems such as Portuguese fado and Bollywood steel guitar. My defunct last.fm page
Books: Moby-Dick, The Master and Margarita, plus anything by Tolstoy, Faulkner, Kafka, Rilke, Frank O'Connor, Walker Percy, David Foster Wallace
Please recommend your own favorites when you meet me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One memorable experience was a long drive across the mountains and beaches of central Vietnam from Da Nang to Hue on a foggy afternoon. It was awe-inspiring for its natural beauty and for the fact that no one on that trip was expecting anything special from the drive. I often find that the most awesome events tend to be the ones that sneak up on you, rather than being planned.
