About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live. Learn. Laugh. Travel. Teach.

ABOUT ME

I actually live in Agadir, not Marrakech. However, the CS website remains insistent on this inconsistent information. Well, I will keep this short and sweet. I aspire to be a reliable friend to those I know, and to be open at all points in my life to making new connections with anyone that I meet, whether it be on the bus, in a taxi, or just out for a stroll in the neighborhood.

PHILOSOPHY

I must not tell lies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I said, new to couch surfing but I am looking forward to getting involved. I would love to host sometime.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was inspired to start this account because of the respect I have for other people in my life who are also couch surfers. And because I really enjoy meeting people who are interested in traveling.

Interests

I am a frisbee playing, travel loving, crossword puzzle doing, french toast making, blog writing, would-be English teacher who enjoys good conversation and running on the breach. In general, I will give most things a shot, save for cigarettes and cliff jumping.

Music, Movies, and Books

I could give a long list, but this is a great topic of conversation so I will not spoil the surprise.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Done: spent an entire summer working on an organic vegetable farm. Working every day with my hands in the soil producing healthy food really goes as one of my all time greatest accomplishments.

Seen: went on a tour of the mosque Hassan II in Casablanca. It was just before the call to prayer on a friday, and so there were only about twenty people in the most cavernous and expansive building you can imagine. The mosque is literally built out into the ocean, and you could easily foot a football stadium inside it. The decorations were so ornate that I simply cannot do them justice with words, but I counted over thirty chandeliers that must have been ten to fifteen meters in diameter. It was the most powerful work of human creation I have ever laid eyes on.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have learned the most in my life from the people around me. I thus try to surround myself with a diverse group of individuals, whose areas of expertise do not necessarily coincide. Learning comes in all forms, but I love to learn through experience and conversation. I find the best conversations to be those in which you come away with a new perspective, a new lens through which to view the world. When I was younger, I used to argue a lot with people at my university, or as we called it, debate. One of the most interesting perspectives on debate/learning/argumentation I have ever seen was a TED talk called "For Argument's Sake." Worth the watch, I won't spoil it for you.
