About Me

My name is Conor, I'm from Coburg in Bavaria, Germany. I'm half Irish and half German and was raised bilingually. I was also once able to speak French and Spanish, though they're both pretty rusty at this point :) I love learning a couple of words here or there in a new language!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think couchsurfing is a very unique way of traveling and seeing the world, as you get to meet locals and internationals alike. It's amazing meeting so many different people with their individual experiences and stories. Also, it's always good to have someone you can ask for advice or recommendations when visiting places you haven't been to before (e.g. best restaurants in the area, places to avoid, etc.). I'm always open to showing people around or hanging out together if there's time :)

Interests

I'm absolutely crazy about sports, my favourite sport being football, which I played at club-level from the age of 7 to 21. I've moved more towards athletics in the last couple of years though and am currently training for the 800m. I also love playing table tennis. There aren't many sports that I wouldn't try or that I dislike.

I love to cook. I particularly enjoy making British and Italian food, but I'll also have a crack at Indian or Thai food whenever I can get my hands on all the necessary ingredients. Cooking for a group of friends or family is one of my favourite things to do at the weekend.

In the evenings I like to go out for a drink with friends or play some pool, if there's a table around.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like lots of different kinds of music (e.g. Indie, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, House, etc.) and really enjoy going out dancing.

I prefer TV series to movies, because there's more time to develop good stories and characters. Some of my favourite series are Breaking Bad, True Detective, House of Cards, The Office (US) and The Wire.

I mainly read fantasy books and books about sports.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a year abroad before I did my leaving cert. I spent 3 months in Brisbane, Australia from October to December 2008 and 5 months in Montreal, Canada from January to May 2009. I had an amazing time and met lots of lovely people! Learning to surf on the Gold Coast was one of my favourite experiences during that year.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could show you how to make some of my favourite dishes (e.g. spicy lamb shanks, Beef Wellington, Beef Stew, Spaghetti Carbonara, etc.). And of course I'd love to learn new recipes as well, if you'd like to show me :)
