About Me

After 10 years of working as a creative writer in ad agencies across Europe, I'm packing it all in for a year (or more) to live on a whim and see where it takes me.

I'm a curious soul with an uneasy feeling that I just haven't squeezed life for all it has to offer.

This is the first step in changing that.

Slow travel.
Genuine experiences.
Connections I'll be sad to move on from.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have an innate desire to travel and joining the CouchSurfing community seems to be an incredible way to satisfy my wanderlust.

I love meeting new people and exploring new places, I'm genuinely excited about the possibilities just from typing this!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music-wise, eclectic doesn't even cut it.

Grew up on 60s mod culture; have at various points been obsessed with jazz, disco, folk, prog rock.
Some Brazilian friends got me hooked on Tim Maia (guy in my picture) and I've been going deep on Brazilian music ever since.

When reading, I switch between fiction and non-fiction at a silly pace.
Anything about history, politics or from a 20th-century Irish writer, I'm in.

Sci-fi and fantasy have also really started to grab me!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been very lucky in my life so far, it's been filled with loads of incredible and amazing moments.

It doesn't take much to get me to share a story and ask for one in return.

I could tell you about when I ended up working on a van in Rio during Carnival after getting very lost.

Or when I travelled England with a group of food truck owners and slept in their lorry (I even handed a pork roll to a woman who has since become Queen Camilla!)

Maybe even how some friends and I broke onto the roof of Trinity College Dublin during a festival and marvelled at the city below us.

You need only ask! :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Wherever I go, I like to bring good humour and great conversation.

I'm very much a glass-half-full kinda person. I'm rarely ever in a mood other than happy.
