Chi sono
UPDATED November 2021: Whew, this pandemic thing really screwed up a lot of things for a lot of people. Hopefully as more people are vaccinated and start traveling again I can continue to host travelers in Reno. I’m currently hosting trivia nights at local bars and also hosting a local podcast called Renoites and excited to share more about my city with folks.
UPDATED February 2019: I am back home in Reno and excited to be hosting again! It looks like my routine will hopefully be to host people for a year in Reno, then go out traveling for a year and meet more Couchsurfers around the country. I'm really looking forward to meeting more travelers passing through my wonderful hometown of Reno. Please check out the "my home" page and send a request.
UPDATED 2018: I'm Conor. I'm currently on a year-long road trip around the United States living out of my Prius. I have always lived on the west coast and decided that while I have the drive and motivation for a little adventure I should take advantage of it and see my country. I'm hoping to visit almost every national park this year. I didn't have a lot of money saved up so this is also an experiment in low cost living and budget management. I generally am trying to be a minimalist and enjoy all of the wonderful things our world has to offer besides always acquiring or consuming. I spend a lot of time staying at free campsites, hiking, and just exploring and learning about the places I go.
I'd love to spend this year really getting to know the people and places that make up this part of the world. I've spent most of last year hosting people in Reno and I'm so excited to now be switching it up and experiencing Couchsurfing from a traveler’s perspective!
I’m blogging about it at http://www.wheresconor.com
My original, slightly dated profile:
I'm relatively new to Couchsurfing and hoping to explore more of the world and meet amazing people wherever I go. I went on a month-long trip in Mexico this year where I made and stayed with new friends (including one Couchsurfing host) and it was immediately clear that this is the best possible way to learn about a city.
I grew up in Reno and recently moved back here after many years away. I went to college in Las Vegas, and spent several years in Portland, Oregon, followed by several years in Oakland, California. Now that I am back to my hometown of Reno I am very excited to provide my guests a local's perspective of the city.
I'm excited about hosting travelers in my home in order to learn about other parts of the world and meet people from all over. I will probably not be able to travel much in 2017 and am hoping that I can scratch that itch a little bit by visiting with my guests and hearing all about their travels.

Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
I want to get more out of my travel than hotel rooms and tourist places. Those are not the things that make a city valuable or interesting. I want to meet hosts who love their cities and want to share that with travelers. As a host, I want to provide a great place to stay and be an ambassador for my hometown of Reno.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
I quit my job in late 2016 to spend months traveling both alone (through Mexico) and with family (in the American southwest and to Australia).
I loved the travel life so much that I moved out of my apartment and into my car to spend a year traveling around the United States in 2018. I visited about 30 National Parks, more than half of the states, and met just a ridiculous number of amazing people. It was probably the biggest and best year of my life so far!

I am learning Spanish and am at the beginner/conversational level. Maybe like 6/10. I would love to practice if you speak it and care to be patient with me. I really enjoy meeting new people and learning about their interests. I work as a tour guide in Reno and would love to show people around town and introduce them to the city.
Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa
I am polite and considerate and would love to take my hosts out for a drink and good conversation and hopefully find a shared interest or two. I don't have specific skills to teach but maybe I will make some along the way. :)
