About Me

My name is Conor. I'm 25 and I'm currently studying Law and Philosophy.

I have a love of travelling and a passion for philosophy and spirituality. I love meeting new people and sharing stories, experiences and opinions about the world. I really believe everybody has something to offer someone else; I think our most painful and most joyful experiences can all be enriching.

On the simple side, I feel that we too often get lost in the illusion of the future and should strive to embrace the very moment we are experiencing. I think life should always be simple enough to laugh at, no matter how serious or sincere a situation one finds themselves in.

At the same time, I really believe that we're orientating beings and that meaning is correlated to the responsibility we decide to take on, and I think our cultural history, philosophy and psychology is our manual for navigating through suffering. So I love connecting with people over those things!

Another favourite thing to do is to get out into nature. I love hiking and the outdoors; be it alone or with a group of people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This seems like an ideal place to meet like-minded people. Of course, having somewhere to crash would be ideal, but to make connections while doing that is even better. I'm still at the student 'stage' of my life, so I don't know how easily/often I can accommodate others, but I will aim to wherever possible, and I guess while I'm studying abroad it's a chance to do that and give back.
The pictures under ''my home'' are from a project at home - a space I'm working on to live in and could potentially host people there too!

Music, Movies, and Books

Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes, Ben Howard, The XX, Alt-J, Mumford & Sons, Angus & Julia Stone, Bon Iver, Chet Faker, James Vincent McMorrow, The Books, Damien Rice, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Jose Gonzalez, Laura Marling, The National, Simon & Garfunkel, Xavier Rudd. I also love classical music; Bach is my favourite. Open to most music, and even the genres I can't enjoy, I can still appreciate what they mean to others.

Favourite book: Impossible really to answer that. To the Lighthouse is maybe a current favourite.

Movies: Anything Mind or Space-based like Momento/A Beautiful Mind/Inception/Interstellar

Favourite all time series is True Detective, Season 1. Breaking Bad and Black Mirror are exceptional. The US Office has to be the greatest comedy on earth!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Driving to Alaska from Vancouver in a 2-wheel drive Mazda 2 with two friends, all of us sleeping in the car (under the aurora) every night!

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy practising memory (as I need it for law!). I could probably teach a few tricks for that!
I love words and their origins and would enjoy teaching English to anybody.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you're any way spiritually inclined, we will probably get along great. Anything to do with philosophy and psychology and it'll be hard not to have a great conversation. Either way, I'm laid back and happen to also particularly enjoy silence as well!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Latvia, Malta, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In
