About Me

25, Singaporean

General Mission:
To understand and appreciate the multitude of people and cultures in the world

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find that couchsurfing would be an excellent opportunity to get to understand the lives of the people in the places I'm visiting, beyond just the usual touristy stuff. Stories are always welcome- be it tidbits regarding the best food places in an area, to how it was/is like growing up in a certain region.

Interests

Reading, language learning, cooking, getting to really know people, eating, watching films, ice-skating, painting, long nature walks (but mostly in cooler weather), photography, interacting with animals, scrapbooking, ....

Music, Movies, and Books

Just off the top of my head:
Music:
Regina Spektor, Yann Tiersen, Cat Power, Beirut, Muse, Carpenter Brut,
Sia, Edith Piaf, Hans Zimmer, L.del Rey, Coldplay, Wir sind Helden, Amy Winehouse, Lucy Rose, Stromae

Movies:
Spirited Away, Requiem for a Dream, Wong Kar Wai films, Amelie, Cloud Atlas, Das Leben der Anderen, Unsere Mütter unsere Väter ...... (I really like discussing films and if we actually have the time we could discuss them for hours on end)

Books:
The Warriors by J.Glenn Gray, Murakami books and Zelda Fitzgerald's biography are currently on my reading list. I am also trying to complete reading The Little Prince in German and hopefully later in French. Otherwise though, Roald Dahl is a perpetual favourite. Tintin too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Actually watching a cow give birth in India. For a person born and bred in the city their whole life this was actually pretty fantastic

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well I am a Singaporean and we are known for our food so if requests are made early I'd be more than pleased to bring some special snacks over! Otherwise though I'd be glad to share any stories from Asia or Singapore in general, and give quick language lessons in Chinese.

Oh I can whip up an excellent salmon belly dish too, original recipe very much guaranteed. My caramelized onions are pretty delish too and can be made rather quickly. :-)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Cambodia, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Taiwan, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In
