About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Infecting people with trust as an antidote to paranoia.

ABOUT ME

We equally enjoy hosting people and traveling to stay with other couchsurfers. We love the way couchsurfing, hosting or visiting, lets us connect with the world and keep the cultural pot stirring.

PHILOSOPHY

If you don't enjoy the journey you probably won't appreciate your destination. One tends to get what one expects, so choose trust and optimism over fear and worry.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've been active in our local Couchsurfing community, have stayed with a number of wonderful people but hosted many more. We have been couchsurfing evangelists among our friends and have gotten several of them started surfing themselves. Our families have worried about us being so open to strangers but have noticed that we still seem to be alive.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There's been a guest register at the house for years, dating back to pre-couchsurfing days. We also have a photo galley of our couchsurfing guests - you can see them all in our photo album and if you stay with us you will be forced to join the gallery.

Interests

Beer and brewing, cooking, politics, conversation, dancing. Falling snow, burbling streams, crackling bonfires, crashing waves, chirping crickets, thunderstorms.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rick has spent more than an hour of his life falling through the air at terminal velocity in his skydiving career. Linda did something even scarier, having survived raising four children to adulthood.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to brew beer, or to speak to groups, or to drink beer and then speak to groups. If you visit on the right night, we'll take you contra dancing or zydeco dancing and show you the steps. Linda can teach you to make pierogies or anything you need to know about how to manage your blood sugar level.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As long-time residents of Asheville we have an encyclopedic knowledge of where to go and what to do here. Whether we join you or not we are useful tour guides for our lovely area. We expect to share conversations with all our guests, and Rick is always happy to have an excuse to show his guests where the breweries are.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antigua and Barbuda, Canada, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Laos, Malta, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turks and Caicos Islands, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State, Virgin Islands, British, Virgin Islands, U.S.
