About Me

I'm an 18 year old guy from St. Louis, Missouri, USA currently on a three month backpacking expedition through Europe. I'm looking for friendly locals wherever I can find them to help make my trip more authentic. This trip has been a dream of mine for quite some time, so I'm beyond excited that it is finally a reality.

Additionally, I am a vegetarian. I'm more than happy to talk about my reasoning over a nice vegetarian meal :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To find hosts to help me through my current journey, and hopefully return the favor once I'm back in the US.

My CouchSurfing promise is to always be an easy and respectful guest; I don't require much more than a place to leave my large pack during the day and a place to sleep at night. I treat every host and home with the respect they deserve.

Interests

I'm a lover of all things artistic. Music has always been a huge part of me, and while I never got too skilled at a particular instrument, I love to mess around on several. All art fascinates me, I think it provides a unique way of getting in the head of the artist, and also grants a unique perspective of the given time period. Fashion is another big interest of mine, and I can't wait to experience all Europe has to offer when it comes to the fashion scene. History is another interest of mine, I find it fascinating. I cannot wait to dive into all the history all throughout Europe.

Some of my other interests include outdoor activities. I thoroughly enjoy a good hike, some rough mountain biking, rock climbing both in and outdoors, kayaking, camping and everything else I can't think of.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy almost every type of music. I've got everything from rock to techno, to bluegrass to alternative, to old school hip hop to classical, to new school hip hop to reggae on my ipod. We probably both appreciate at least one of the same bands or artists! No matter what's playing, I can dig it!

My favorite movie is without a doubt Fight Club, if you haven't seen it it's a must watch. It's filled with subliminal messages and subtle philosophical undertones that cannot all be absorbed in one viewing. And on top of all of that, the ending will blow your mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done was go backpacking along the continental divide in Colorado for 10 days. The journey was long, and definitely challenging at some points, but the views were breathtaking almost the entire time. It is absolutely something I would do again.

One amazing thing I would LIKE to do is hike the Patagonia region in South America. It's definitely on my to-do list!

Teach, Learn, Share

Something that has become abundantly clear to me as of late is that you get what you give; when you're compassionate and courteous to people, people tend to respond the same way.

Happiness is a state of mind, meaning your happiness is in your control.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to learn from others. I'm constantly amazed by what strangers have to offer me, but I also love to help others learn. I'm always down for an intellectual discussion, and I feel completely comfortable discussing almost anything. Whether it's ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics, politics or religion, I'd love to talk about it! And I rarely get offended.
