About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet interesting people and learn about their lives, adventures, attitudes, experiences.

ABOUT ME

Army brat, moved around a lot as a kid; like meeting new people. Was a City Police Officer for 32 years; retired. Was a Coast Guard Reservist for 30 years; retired. Now a Civil service employee of the Coast Guard. Father of four, grandfather of four. I am liberal, Democrat, but have no animosity towards others with differing views; makes for interesting debates at times. Live alone with my two dogs. Like to read a lot, travel as much as I can, been to every state in US except Alaska, Canada, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Turkey, Kuwait, Germany, Netherlands, and others.

PHILOSOPHY

Try to learn something new every day. It doesn't have to be significant, just discover something that you didn't know when you woke up. You learn from interacting with people and paying attention to waht is going on in the world. Don't just listen to US news, watch or listen to other sources for other perspectives; Al Jazeera, BBC, Canadian Broadcasting Network.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have not participated yet but wish to start. My son has traveled all over the US couchsurfing and has had wonderful experiences as well as hosting people when he was in Maui, the Outer Banks, and Colorado. Based on his experiences and recommendations I want to get involved.
