About Me
Hi everyone!
I’m Coralie, 24 years old and I’m originally from France :)
Last year I graduated from my Masters in European Policy and Conflict Resolution at the University of Amsterdam and since then I have been volunteering abroad for diverse humanitarian aid/development missions. I volunteered two months in a Temporary Reception Centre for asylum-seekers in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I really enjoyed this experience, getting to talk with people from all over the world and help the best way I could. I wish I could've volunteered longer but I could not extend the European Solidarity Corps contract!
After that, I decided to volunteer six months in Nepal for a mission dedicated to the economic empowerment of women from rural communities in Nepal and came back to Europe recently. I was living approximately one-hour away by bus from Kathmandu, it was a rural town with ricefields everywhere and only two/three local shops. This experience truly changed me in many ways. It was the first time I was living for a long period of time outside Europe :) I had the chance to be with amazing volunteers from all over the world, to make life-long friendships with Nepali friends but most importantly to work together with Nepali women! I learnt a bit of Nepali (it is very difficult ahaha) and was happy to be able to communicate with the community :) Although I had some rough times with a lot of health issues, I still made the most of my experience there :)
Now, I am participating in several week-long Erasmus+ youth exchanges and training courses all over Europe to gain more skills and discover Europe even more before I move to North Macedonia in december for work :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have always loved meeting new people and exchanging about our daily life and crazy experiences! So when my friend told me about Couchsurfing, I told myself I found the best way of doing so :)
Having lived and participated in projects all over the world, I love getting to know different cultures and meeting new people every day :) I am quite extrovert I would say but I also need some time for myself sometimes.
Since I am participating in Erasmus+ projects all over Europe, I am also here to find people who would be willing to host me for 1/2 nights and show me around their city! I would love to spend time together, walking around the city, going to a bar or chatting and watching a movie :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to all types of music and I’m interested in culture, politics, and art.
At the moment, I am very into Balkan music, turbofolk! I also love french, english and turkish trap! But I am also listening to everything and nothing at the same time!
My favourite movies would probably be: Shawn of the Dead, Triangle of Sadness, Past Lives, Gone Girl and Get Out :) They're all so different but bring out different emotions to me, laughter, thoughtfulness, happy tears and goosebumps!
About my favourite tv shows, it's also all over the board! I love The White Lotus, Unorthodox, Malcolm in the Middle, Black Mirror and DERRY GIRLSSSSSSS
I also have to admit I like to watch Netflix tv reality shows like Love is Blind when I need to relax and not think deeply ahaha.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The first one that comes to mind is living in a remote town of Nepal with only two/three corner shops hold by locals, a school, and ricefields miles away. I had never lived outside of Europe and in a remote town for that long (six months).
The second one is actually going on a trek in the Himalayas for a week, at around 3500m altitude. Although it's one of the smallest treks in Nepal, it was already a big challenge for me as I was still on antibiotics and had some health issues. (Fun fact: due to the altitude and descending too fast, I had a barotraumatism and now have tinnitus :(((
The third one would be getting surgery in a Nepali hospital because the doctors saw I had a cyst that needed to be removed quite quickly, and although I was traveling back to France three weeks later, I prefered to be safe and get surgery there :) The surgery went well, and the hospital staff were all so kind, it was just a stressful experience to get surgery abroad without my family and friends around at that time.
Teach, Learn, Share
We can share past experiences, stories, laughs. We can explore the city, play board games (I love going to bars with board games!!!). I'm willing to discover and learn about everything! I love learning new languages so if we could exchange words in our native languages that would be great!
If you are interested, I could talk to you about Nepal, Nepali culture, food and the religions there. I'm always ectatic about promoting Nepal's wonderful landscapes and tourism ahah.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share with you my very strong French accent and hope it will make you laugh!
I will chat with you about everything as if we knew each other for a long time already ahah. I will share my experiences, my favourite movies and music recommendations with you :)
I also can help you in your French learning process and I am open to hosting you in France and/or showing you around Paris if you come :)
