About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Grow.

ABOUT ME

For two summer seasons now I have been living/working in the backcountry among the mountains of Yosemite National Park, California, USA in a high Sierra camp void of vehicles, cell phones, electricity and hustle.

My latest journey was a 5 month stretch of rock climbing in Thailand, trekking and volunteering to build a bamboo guesthouse in Malaysia, and diving, trekking and music playing throughout northern Sumatra.

I spent 6 months backpacking, tramping, hitch hiking, WWOOFing and couchsurfing through New Zealand; I can easily say that it was the best and at times (though the times were few) it was also the hardest experience of my life.

I don't say no to my family/friends because I don't have to think about saying yes. Intuition says it. If I have to think about it, I'll say no. It is not entirely closed but hugging comes over shaken hands.

I travel by my boot heels and consider myself near-professional when it comes to going with the flow. Therefore, I'll happily conform to the pace of my host and his/her home, be it neat and tidy or complete and utter chaos.

I shall die in my footsteps regardless of prophecy, predictions or some fanatics well-researched hunch.

You'll often find me somewhere deep within the confines of my head, constructing some sort of jibber jabber ideology.

Some people might indeed call certain beliefs I carry controversial and cynical. I prefer the terms rational and compassionate. I love.

I don't believe in labels, so I guess you could call me one of those "non-label people."

At times reserved, but always ready to play you a wavery-voiced tune on the old guitar. At other times, completely extroverted and ready for a bout of nerdy babbling about most anything that fits the occasion.

When isolated from a drum kit for more than 20 minutes, you'll often find me slapping my already battered thighs to the beat of a tune in my head.

I'm completely house trained, I swear.

I'd prefer to meet you and have you create your own opinion of me rather than have you build one from this little bloggy blurb on the internet.

I'm a nice guy, generous and laid back, so lets see how we get on.

PHILOSOPHY

can't and shouldn't be boiled down into an internet paragraph.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfed all over New Zealand. Had the pleasure of having my first host cum surfer stay with me for a total of 30-ish days in Michigan. Will happily host whenever I can find it within myself to settle down to one place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've toured the length of the united states in a couple of bands; slept on floors, couches, roofs, or, conversely, stayed awake, spun out and twisted in a mad rush of chemical imbalances and manic timeframe obligations.

I've had plenty of folks put me up in New Zealand for anywhere from 1 night to 1 week; they were unbelievably generous and more friendly than I could have ever imagined. I couldn't ask for anything better, and I have since come out of those experiences with great new friends.
