Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first experience of CS was staying in Liverpool, where I had an amazing time with a wild bunch of Scousers -- great nights out and tours around the city. I also spent a couple of days in Leeds, where I was able to enjoy the city with a really helpful Hungarian couchsurfer. I have also hosted a few travellers passing through Lyon, and had a great experience every time.
I just like the idea of meeting people along the journey; it makes such a difference to how you travel!
Interests
If I want to sound serious, I'll say that my interests are literature, History, and music. I like going to all sorts of concerts and festivals, from jazz to reggae.
I also have a passion for foreign languages; I study English at the moment, but in the past I have also dabbled in Russian and Spanish, and one of my life goals is to be able to say 'Workers of the world, unite!' in all possible languages.
More prosaically, when travelling I am equally keen on food and drink, and always happy to try a new beer or a hearty recipe!

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite writers include Victor Serge and Eric Vuillard for the revolt, Steinbeck and Joyce for the humanity, Chekhov and Beckett for the fun and the despair, and Walcott, for he needs no justification.
Music wise, I'm mostly into jazz, great fan of Bill Evans. But I'll listen to anything groovy, from rocksteady to funk and soul, preferably live music! I have been to Notting Hill carnival a number of times and loved the atmosphere and music. I have classical moments too, with a special taste for Mahler, and a few others.
Films: Queimada, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Babylon.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Ukraine a few years ago. I adopted a stray dog for one night, and nearly died on several occasions.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach a bit of French or English. Or tell you about the Paris Commune.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Wine and cheese, presumably.
