About Me

I am taking a year off from the final year of my engineering degree to live and travel in Europe.

I really love learning, I love the feeling you get when you realise something you couldn't do or didn't understand a year ago is now something you do with ease. I only wish there were more hours in a day or perhaps if I didn't have to sleep.. I'll gladly admit when I don't know something and happily listen to anyone who has something to teach me.

I am the proud parent of a beautiful Australian Kelpie named Luna (see photos), the hardest part of spending a year abroad will be leaving her at home.

I consider myself to be open-minded/open to new experiences, kind, honest, patient, compassionate and helpful. I'm always trying to maintain a small ego.

I am a huge lover of all things music, one of my priorities upon arriving in Europe is to find a cheap guitar I can take with me everywhere I go. (edit: I now have a guitar! I went into a music store on my second day in Germany and asked for the cheapest guitar in the store aha)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have lived in Perth Australia for my entire life, while it is a beautiful and wonderful place to live, it is also one of the most isolated cities in the world (2000km to Adelaide the next closest city). So I'm looking forward to meeting lots of new people and exposing myself to new experiences.

Since my first couchsurfing experience in April 2018, I have met a bunch of people through couchsurfing and other similar websites. In most cases I feel like I have made a real connection with my hosts, many of which have become friends that I have visited again or met up with in other cities. It is such a great feeling to see that I am impacting people's lives in a positive way.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: my musical taste is constantly evolving, a few years ago all my favourite bands where metal/hardcore bands, then I went through a 60's psych rock phase, lately I've increasingly found myself beginning to enjoying pop and hip hop. This is by no means a complete list but I would love to meet people with musical interests

CAN, The Avalanches, Dungen, Foxygen, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Pond, The Doors, Funkadelic, Methyl Ethel, Tame Impala, Dumbo Gets Mad, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, The Beatles, BADBADNOTGOOD, Ball Park Music, Ariel Pink, Babe Rainbow, David Bowie, MF Doom,

BOOKS: I love books but I have to be careful because a good book can consume me, throwing all my priorities out of wack:

Zen Mind Beginner's Mind - Shunryū Suzuki, Name of the Wind - Patrick Rothfuss, Wool - Hugh Howey, Riverworld Series - Phillip Jose Farmer, Needful Things - Stephen King

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During the Australian Summer of 2015/16 I met a German traveller in my home city, though we had only known each other for a short time we decided to drive across Australia in a car set up for camping (see photos) for 3 months, driving a total of 18000km. Definitely one of the most amazing things I've done in my life so far. The experience left me craving more travel!

On an impulse I decided to cycle from Heidelberg to Mainz to visit a friend, I completed the 100km trip in one day. I enjoy the feeling when every part of your body is screaming at you to stop "it's just too much", but then exerting the mental strength to continue pushing ahead and not giving up.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State
