O mnie

I am a nomad filmmaker who is currently residing in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I recently quit a video editing office job with a YouTube production company to pursue making a living as a traveling digital nomad and freelance filmmaker. I'm currently directing and editing a documentary about a lost nation called the Karenni from Myanmar, who are harbored in refugee camps along the Thai/Myanmar border.

I love to travel and meet new people from all over the world. Whenever there is any opportunity to travel somewhere domestically or abroad, I'm there! I can't stay in one place for too long. Even if money is an issue, I always seem to find a way. I love learning new things, making new friends, listening, talking, or even being quiet. Friends and family have called me outgoing, quiet, a deep thinker, curious, determined, honest, friendly, funny, sensitive, and compassionate.

I've lived in Seattle, Cleveland, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.

Dlaczego jestem na Couchsurfing

Now that I've officially become nomadic, I'm hoping to branch out more with this site, meet some great people and make more friends as I travel. I'm new to Couchsurfing and really hope to make great memories with it soon.

I love meeting locals anywhere I go, and staying with them is my top choice. I feel like if I am staying in hostels or hotels I'm not getting the full experience of travel.

Zainteresowania

Always interested in meeting new people. Film and photography is how I love to express myself. I can drive a car for days alone, the scenery will keep me going. Traveling the world recently captivated me when I was 22 years old, and I've been glued to it ever since. I feel like people are what make travel invaluable. To me, meeting new people across the world and finding ways to connect with them through language barriers can be one of the greatest human experiences. I have a passion to implement that experience into film, to make people actually seem real (not the 'reality' we see on TV). Recently I'm starting to visit more countries, now that I'm in a place that makes it much easier.

Muzyka, filmy i książki

Aloha, Band of Horses, Sufjan Stevens, The Velvet Teen, Boards of Canada, Björk, Dustin O'Halloran, Eluvium, Ólafur Arnalds, Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, Iron And Wine, Local Natives, Mogwai, 65 Days of Static, Modest Mouse, Peter Broderick, Nils Frahm, The Shins, This Will Destroy You, U2, Elliott Smith, Aphex Twin, The Police, Depeche Mode, Animal Collective

I always listen to something based on how I feel at the moment, and music tends to inspire me to edit videos. Sometimes I just want to listen to something for nostalgic reasons. I'm always open to whatever anyone feels like playing in their car or home.

I wouldn't call myself a film buff or say I go to movie theaters often, even though I'm a filmmaker. But a lot of my inspiration has come from Terrance Malick films like The Tree of Life or Days of Heaven. Films like The Fountain, The Illusionist, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind had a lot of influence on me when I was younger to venture out into movie making. I also have an interest in watching cinéma vérité documentaries, like Sherman's March.

There are those fair share of nostalgic movies that I will always love as well, like A Christmas Story, Rush Hour, any Jackie Chan or martial arts film, (Wheels on Meals), Cast Away, Home Alone, The Goonies, Hayao Miyazaki films (Which also really inspired me! And made me want to go to Japan)

Jedna niesamowita rzecz, którą zrobiłem(-am)

Taking a chicken bus at midnight from Mo Chit station in Bangkok to a port town called Trat, arriving at 5am with no sleep and being told by some random lady with a pickup truck in Thai that she will come back for me, finally being picked up at 10am only to be taken to a counter where you buy ferry tickets, taking a 2 hour ferry ride with sea sickness written all over it to a small island called Koh Kut, and then being taken to an amazing bungalow on the beach for only $9 per night. That trip was so worth it.

Also getting lost in Bangkok with a phone that fried its own battery, only to be found by two kind filipinos that offered to help me find my way home.

I love to teach people what I know about cameras, editing, software, anything technical, about cars or working on cars. Also how to travel cheaply, meet locals, make the best use with what you've got. Love learning things about people, language, culture, sharing experiences, hearing experiences, finding things to relate with in everyone.
