About Me
Hello! My name is Corey. I’ve lived in a small town in Kentucky most of my life. As far as traveling goes I haven’t left the united states, only been outside Kentucky a handful of times, but that’s about to change. On November 23rd I’ll land in London, I have a 3 month train pass and an insatiable appetite for adventure.
I’m 28 years old and have very little to show for my time here on earth. I have a dead end job, no degree, and up until a few months ago no idea what I wanted to do with my life. This is a recipe for depression, and depressed I was. Was, being the keyword there.
On august 21st 2016 I was reborn. It’s what I will celebrate as my new birthday. That was the day I realized I could take my dream trip, that was the day my ex went from the last thing I had to the last thing holding me back. Literally like flipping a switch. My mindset changed from having nothing, to having nothing to worry about. I am completely free. I have no obligations, no responsibilities, minimal bills, and no one left to disappoint but myself. Its absolutely amazing. I had forgotten what happiness was. Now I’m the living embodiment of it.
I have been through a good portion of what people consider the worst times of their lives. Now that’s behind me and I’m ready for adventure. When I started planning my trip I had no idea couchsurfing existed. A friend told me about it and it is exactly what I’m looking for. I’m only slightly interested in sightseeing and touristy stuff, I want to meet new and amazing people from all over the world.
Update! So I'm about a month into my travels and it has been amazing. Started in London, met a long time online friend face to face for the first time in my life. Spent a long night in France after taking the trains for granted. From Paris I went to Amsterdam, then Antwerp, Bruges, and Ghent. Next was Berlin, then Kraków, Warsaw, and Gdansk. In Italy at the moment, no idea where I want to go next. Too many amazing options!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started planning my trip to Europe a few months ago and had no idea this community existed. Before I heard about couchsurfing i was trying to find ways to meet locals and get an insiders view of the city or country I happen to be in. Once a friend told me about couchsurfing I couldn't believe it. It's exactly what i'm looking for.
For now I can't host people myself. At the moment i'm living with a friend until I leave for my trip.
Interests
I am addicted to meeting new people, I cant wait to hear amazing stories from other people and travelers.
I have always wanted to be a comedian, it's a blessing and a curse but I can find comedy in almost anything. I prefer to laugh instead of cry.
Music, Movies, and Books
Not too picky with music, mainly listen to rock and hip hop.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Had to think about this for a while. I guess for now this will have to do.
I came out of a crippling depression. Not over time, almost instantly. I have a whole new outlook on life, and may never be depressed again. At the very least not as depressed as I was. I want to help people find different, better ways to look at the world.
What I Can Share with Hosts
First and most important, I am clean and respectful.
Skill wise I don't have a lot to offer other than cooking.
I'm no master chef, but I've never heard any complaints. Pretty comfortable in the kitchen, and can usually make something with whats on hand. The end result might not have a name but tends to be pretty good.
other than cooking I can offer-
friendship
stories
cleaning
odd jobs
If you have any sense of humor at all, i'll make you laugh.
