I'm a friendly person who enjoys traveling, seeing and trying new things, and meeting new people! I love interesting conversations that open my mind to new ideas. I'm generally laid back and flexible, but I also enjoy planning and organizing.

I'm also vegetarian (though I occasionally will eat seafood).

I have heard so many good things about Couchsurfing--meeting interesting people and making friends! I think it is wonderful that people are so hospitable, just for the sake of being kind and making new acquaintances.

Interessen

I am a lover of all arts and I'm also a history buff--in university I studied modern German history. I enjoy learning languages and am interested in current issues and international perspectives, social justice, and environmental sustainability. I also love good food and drink! I like trying new recipes to cook or bake, but my specialty is American-style pies. My favorite pets include ferrets, dogs, and parakeets, but I like all animals. I love dancing, whether in a club or a specific style, like folk or swing. I also sing and write songs in my free time.
Things I collect include postcards (especially with vintage photos), buttons and pins, and copies of The Little Prince in different languages.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Music: My tastes are eclectic, but my favorite genre (broadly defined) is rock & roll of the 60s-90s. Just a few of my favorites: The Beatles, David Bowie, The Smiths, Velvet Underground, Oasis, The Clash... the list goes on. I like electronic and fusion as well, from Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack to Gorillaz and Future Sound of London. I also enjoy older music, from Bach to Beethoven, Ravel to Rachmaninoff. I appreciate opera, jazz and blues, and contemporary music.

Movies: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Princess Bride, Lord of the Rings, Through a Glass Darkly, On the Waterfront, films by Wes Anderson and by Miyazaki--and too many more to count.

Books (and other written works): Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, The Little Prince, Pride and Prejudice, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion, Harry Potter, Hamlet (and all Shakespeare), and the poems of John Dryden, Constantine P. Cavafy, and Frederico Garcia Llorca
