Hola! I'm a food and wine enthusiast currently wrapping up my second year teaching English in Ibiza. The last two years living in Spain have given me the opportunity to travel more than I ever had before. In these years I've also had a lot of time for introspection, figuring out what really makes me happy and doing my best to let those things lead my decisions in life. In my travels I've found I'm happiest when I'm learning about (or trying, really) the local wine (or beer, or spirits.. ) and cuisine. As this school year comes to an end and I think about the next step, I know I want to keep experiencing new flavors. One day.. a few years down the road, I see myself becoming a Master of Wine. Now, to fill the time before that with as much travel, delicious food, good drinks, and interesting people as possible. Cheers!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Before I go somewhere new I do my best to read as much information on the place as possible, but I've found that no amount of reading and research has ever given me the same experience as meeting locals. My best trips have been those where I've met or stayed with local people who have shown me things I never would've found in any guide book. I'm on Couchsurfing so I can keep meeting locals on my travels, but also so that I can offer that same local experience to anyone visiting one of the places I call home.

Music, Movies, and Books

I was an English/writing major in university so this list could go on forever but I'll give you just a few of my favorites.. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and basically any Greek tragedy or anything by Hemingway.

Admittedly, I don't watch as many movies as I would like.. but if you're with me for more than 24 hours I'm sure I'll make at least 3 references to The Wire. Greatest TV show of all time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've skydived.. twice. Honestly the plane ride up in that tiny little plane was more terrifying than actually jumping out of it, but maybe that's just me ;).

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you can't already tell.. I have a thing for good food and drinks. I'm a great cook (sorry, humble brag) and would love to cook my hosts a meal or bake them something special. I've also worked as a bartender for 5 years and can offer a great wine pairing or put together a delicious cocktail (mojitos, anyone?) .
