ABOUT ME

I’m a Canadian artist, mom of 17-yr-old, partner of 21 years, live in a small city in a beautiful province. I love to camp, hike and mountain bike. Being in the outdoors amongst the trees is my favourite place but also, I thrive in sunshine and heat. I am learning construction and recently built a studio in my back yard using mostly repurposed fence boards and used windows and door. I can do basic home renos, and enjoy the process of destruction and transformation in design. I do not mind tiling mosaics. I love working with my hands and am obsessed with making: I paint, draw, write, make books, stop-motion animations and kinetic sculptures. I’m only ___ yrs old and it took me this long to kind of almost get it when it comes to life and I still have a long way to go. I’m a late bloomer and I’m still learning! It’s exciting and I’m incredibly grateful.

PHILOSOPHY
Creativity, comedy, and education are necessities not luxuries. I vote for parties that care about human rights and social well being.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I’d like to meet fellow travellers and I seek a safe and cozy place to stay and meet interesting people. I’m a kind surfer who likes to go the extra mile to give back and say thanks for the trust and generosity of opening up your home to me and I hope to do the same. I’m not always funny, but I love to make people smile and enjoy a good hearty laugh together.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first (and only?) Couchsurfing experience was in 2010 went I visited Kassel, Deutschland to see Documenta 13. My hosts were incredibly generous folks who offered me my own room and are keen to keep in touch over the years.

I am traveling to Collemacchia, Italy in August 2019, then to Ercourt, France in Sept to attend artist residencies. I have a week in between the two and am looking for places to travel -
Would like to see Amsterdam and Belgium.

Interests

I'm interested in sociology, psychology, history, philosophy, art, - how we think, why we do what we do, how we love, grieve and work with each other. I'm interested in the social behaviour of primates.
-music, drawing, archiving, recording histories...grotesque and subversive imagery/writing

I’ve been painting lately. Making collage and stop
Motion animations. I’m interested in quality of life and mental health and how the infrastructure and design of cities affects and contributes to that (as well as jobs and working conditions). I read about trauma and it’s effects on the brain.

I built a giant motorized marionette out of sticks and made it walk to the beat of a brass band.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach no-hands cycling on a decent 10-speed, how to play the accordion, drawing, some self-help advice for life, hard times and relationships.
