ABOUT ME

At age 70 I am happy to say "I never had to work for a living". 39 of those years were spent in education, mostly as a high school counselor and coach. My positive outlook on life has carried me through some tough times and made the good times even better. My curiosity is easily peaked. While I am fully comfortable being by myself I enjoy the presence of others and love hearing of their adventures

PHILOSOPHY

My life is "Perfect and getting better" I believe integrity,respect and responsibility are the cornerstones of a good life. The less complication in my life, the better. I don't have problems but just occasional "situations that need solutions" I am here to live, laugh, learn, love, and be of help to others.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Until Covid-19 is under control I will not be hosting. I am 73 and for the safety of myself, my daughter and guests I find it prudent to not have people in my home. As soon as possible I will start accepting guests.

In the time I have been with couchsurfing I have hosted more than 500 people. My record is 19 guests at one time (couchsurfering and warmshowers combined). It has been nothing short of a fantastic thrill to have travelers stay at my home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In 2010 I was hosted in Poland,, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia and Mongolia and in 2011 had the pleasure of being hosted in Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Belgium. Latest couchsurfing opportunity was in Mauritania I was humbled by the generosity of my hosts and vowed to return and amp up what I provided to my guests.

Intereses

Reading, in particular travel writing. Running, biking swimming, tennis, backpacking, really I love to play. Travel is big on my list and the length and duration of the adventures really do not matter.

Música, películas y libros

My knowledge of movies is very limited, but has been growing recently because my daughter is knowledgeable. I am really starting to enjoy foreign films. The Royal Road to Romance is one of my favorite books. Travel literature almost always lights me up

One, can't get down to one so here are some things that comes to mind: 1983 going from Hong Kong into China, solo. 1986 crossing the Sahara from Algeria to Togo by bus, truck, and car. Did most of it solo. Along the way I escaped the charging of a half dozen elephants. 2010 Trans-Monglian train. 2015 traveled the Highlands Highway from Tari to Lea, Papua New Guinea by PMV (public motor vehicle) There were NO backpackers on this road traveling solo like myself. People are GREAT no matter what you read about PNG. In 2016 traveled by bush taxi from Bamako, Mali to Conakry, Guinea.

I can model how to keep the play in life, to see the positive and even how to suck it up when the negative hits. My life has been full. I love learning details about cultures and the weaving of the fabric of people's lives.

From me you will get space as needed, insights to the area as you wish and sometimes a "tour" when it all works out. Don't get me started or I will tell travel stories until you are wishing to be struck by lighting.
I like asking my guests about their families and travels.
As for my abode, depending on numbers, you will have a room to yourself, access to washer/dryer, kitchen, Wifi, short walk to beach, grocery store, plus a pub and excellent breakfast/lunch cafe with limited operating hours.
