About Me

Hello! My name is Corrie. My pronouns are she/her. (My Couchsurfing references use a slightly different name that I used to go by - I haven't been active on here in a while... finally getting around to updating this profile! )

Okay. So, "about me"... I've lived forever in the San Francisco Bay Area, currently in Oakland. I work full time at a non-profit in Berkeley. I LOVE CATS. I love coffee and all of the food. I love getting lost in thrift stores and nature. I'm always down for karaoke, improv theater, storytelling shows, burlesque, plays / musicals, quirky indie films. I also enjoy my solo time: curling up with a book, watercolor painting, writing, music. I do not smoke cigarettes - I have mild asthma and prefer non-smoking environments. I love to explore new places. I'm generally quiet. I'm queer as fuck. I like big hugs and I cannot lie.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've had wonderful experiences couch-surfing years ago in LA, and hosting in Oakland. I love traveling and especially being hella frugal about it :P ( SORRY - I CANNOT CURRENTLY HOST )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i learned how to operate a radio board before i learned how to drive. i used to work at a volunteer/student radio station, and the entire experience was amazing for me. i produced audio, organized on-air contests and hosted shows. these early years compelled me to study media production in college. i had regular fans who called in during my show, or just listened. a year after i left radio, i found myself stranded alone at a BART station at 2am, with no cash and a dead cell phone. i thought i'd wait at the station until the first bus of the day came at 5am.... so i curled up on a bench, and a man asked why i was there. i told him i was going to take the bus in the morning, and he asked, "are you on the radio?" he recognized my voice immediately; it turned out that he had listened to me every week as he spent months in a local prison. he said my show kept him sane and made him smile. we talked for a while, and then he paid for my taxi ride home.

Teach, Learn, Share

i am learning guitar/banjo, just basic chords for now because i don't practice enough, but i eventually want to write and perform my own stuff.
