About Me

I am a student currently studying clarinet performance at the university of northern Colorado. I will be studying abroad in Finland starting January 2, 2017 and intend to visit many European countries!

I enjoy classical music and peaceful evenings. I'm expecting my whole life to change due to my study abroad and I am going to try many new things!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I plan to travel a lot throughout Europe between January and may 2017. To meet new people, I have joined couchsurfing. I hope to enhance my travels this way by meeting locals and building my world view in a more deep way than one might achieve by staying in a hotel or hostel.

Interests

Im interested in a lot of things, but my main goal during my stay in Europe is to learn new things and find new interests.

  • classical music
  • exploring
  • nature walks

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite book is "The Book Thief" by Marcus Zusak. I am also currently reading a wonderful book titled "Infidel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, which is a wonderful autobiography of a woman who grew up in Somali, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, and Ethiopia. She grew up feeling different than her family and friends and found herself questioning the suppressive nature of the Islam she saw around her. When her father arranged a marriage for her, she ran away and sought refugee status in The Netherlands where she eventually became a member of parliament. It's a fascinating book with great insight into eastern African culture!

I don't have a specific favorite movie, but I love international movies. A few of my favorites are "Los últimos Días" (Spain), "Jongens" (The Netherlands), and "Its a beautiful Life" (Italy).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have done was study abroad. It's my first time being out of the country as well as being away from all friends and family.

Teach, Learn, Share

The best thing I can provide is company and help with cooking! I'm no expert chef but I enjoy making food with people:)

I look forward to hearing new stories from new people!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am able to share stories about my life in the US, a listening ear, nice conversations, music on my clarinet, the English language, help with cooking, dishes and cleaning, and more!
