About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Go with the flow

ABOUT ME
I am a highschool biology teacher in my 4th year. Teaching has been good, though I am looking to more fully step into my gifts as an emotional intelligence coach by next school year or latest 2020.
I am keenly interested in the link between science and spirituality. I am a medium and volunteer minister at a Spiritualist church. I practice reiki as well.
Personality wise, I would describe myself as methodical, curious and kind. Also, I'm tall.

PHILOSOPHY

I always ask myself two questions questions: Am I happy? How do I treat other people? It's so easy to get caught up in a rat race. If I do something, as much as possible it's because I want to do it. Also, I think happiness is best shared. So I ask -- how do I treat others? I try to see the best in others and make the most of the situations I am in. I believe we reap what we sew so I try to put out good stuff. Mindfulness, authenticity, gratitude, peace, wisdom, compassion and joy. These are traits I wish to cultivate.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now, I'm a surfer and I'm up for meeting for coffee. I live with others in a house I don't own so I'm not able to host. Once I settle down a little and get my own place I'd like to be a host as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Been a while since I surfed, but I had good experiences a few years back in Fort Worth, TX and Oklahoma City. Both of my hosts were really friendly and I had positive experience both places. When traveling, it's so nice to be able to genuinely connect with someone at the end of the day.

Interests

I like, hiking, reading and writing. Most of the reading and writing I do has some spiritual aspect to it. Though given my science background I keep pretty down to earth. I am interested in reiki, meditation and mediumship.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Waking Life, Yes Man, Fight Club
Music: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, Black Eyed Peas
Books: Power of Now, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Dune.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's the little things, isn't it? I lived in Japan 5 year and so I saw a lot of amazing stuff while traveling around(Mt. Fuji, Kyoto, etc). But I lived in the boon docks in the far north of Japan. So I would say learning Japanese and hosting get togethers with friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

Golly. I suppose for the past year I've been fascinated with Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth." He talks about being fully engaged and alert in the present moment. When one gets fixiated with one's one schemes or personal story, one is always on some level wanting or fearing. One is always looking to the past, the future, but never the now. The now is our connection with life, and by living in harmony with the present moment we can live in harmony with ourselves, others and the universe. The queit stillness of Being is where we find our true sense of purpose and peace.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you are interested in reiki/energy healing, I can do a free session on you. The session will take about 20 min (although I can abbreviate it or stretch it out). People experience in different ways and those who are very proficient can really work wonders. For my abilities, I can help with aches and pains, as well as general relaxation. Most people don't realize how stressed out they are all the time!
