Overview
About Me
I studied Geography, specialized in mapping, soil science and hydrology.
So I have a good sense of direction and I'm a pretty down to earth person (soil, downwards, earth, get it?)
Yeah, the joke was pretty dry, like a bad day in the office for a hydrologist.
I'll show myself out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hoping that I can host travellers and I will be taken in by other hosts.
Make friends from all over the world, learn their culture and experiences, and so on.
Interests
Ever since I was young, I loved going outside to the mountains (plenty here in Vancouver), looking at the natural landscape and wondering how they formed. People would read books but I was a natural in reading and interpreting maps. As a result, I stayed to my roots and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Geography, specializing in Geographic Information Science (GIS)/Remote Sensing, with Advanced Classes in Soil Science and Hydrology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Either:
Volunteering in Egypt for two months during the summer of 2015, gaining work experience, making friends from all over the world and travelling extensively in Egypt together.
or
Driving 20 hours from Edmonton to Yellowknife with a friend, in my 2008 Acura CSX (yes, I have my own car) and camping for 5 nights during the summer, where mosquitoes were as big as car mirrors.
or
Travelling overland from New York to Toronto and Quebec City, then back down to Miami to visit friends and family along the way.
Teach, Learn, Share
Can teach: Cantonese, English, and a bit of Spanish. Canadian and Cantonese culture.
Want to learn: Spanish, German, Russian. Culture from other countries.
Can share: geospatial intelligence, satellites, imagery, orbital path, really nerdy stuff about geography and computer mapping.
Cannot teach/share: rocket technology, signal processing
What I Can Share with Hosts
Taking care of a single family home in Vancouver, Canada. Which means I have a few DIY skills in taking care of properties.
This could mean: going to a general hardware stores and buying specific tools and parts, dealing with snow, changing toilets, replacing the thermal coupler in the gas fired hot water tank, and so on.
Therefore, I can share some of my handyman skills from Canada with hosts.
