About Me

Hey, hello there! My name is Cory, and I'm from Canada. I've been a student for the majority of my adult life so far, but I recently completed a Masters degree in engineering this past December. Now that I can take some time to myself before starting a career, I've decided to travel around Europe for a few weeks!

My formal education has been in spacecraft engineering, so it's definitely fair to say that I am in love with anything and everything involving space :) Don't worry though , I have a number of other passions that aren't quite as nerdy! I'm a huge fan of the outdoors, I'm a triathlon coach and occasional competitor, and I try to incorporate movement into every single day. If you're into swimming, cycling, running, hiking, climbing, skiing, yoga, or any activities that involve getting your body moving, chances are we'll have something in common!

I've also been a musician for most of my life, and the acoustic guitar is my instrument of choice at the moment. Just recently I've begun performing at local open mics and coffee houses, and I'm really starting to enjoy the experience of sharing music with others! I won't pretend to be the best singer, so I'm always happy to accompany people's requests and have them sing along :p

There a quite a few other (comically Canadian) things I could include here (ask me about my kilt), but I'll save those for another time - I look forward to chatting soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is my first solo travel experience abroad, and many of my university friends highly recommended the Couchsurfing community because of the positive atmosphere and camaraderie they've enjoyed. I certainly enjoy staying at hostels and meeting other travelers, but I think the chance to stay with someone who lives in a city, and who can share their insights and experiences of living in that locale, is an amazing opportunity to learn!

My current travel plans are as follows:
Paris - Brussels - Dortmund - Munich - Innsbruck - Interlaken - Paris - Home to Canada

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you happen to have a guitar handy, I absolutely love introducing people to new music and some of my favourite artists! Listening to the tales and stories that other people have experienced also makes me happy, so I'm happy to share quiet conversations and discussions about sports, music, science and space colonization :p If you need a workout buddy or someone to go see a music show with, I'm always open to activities too!
