About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Become a Renaissance Man

ABOUT ME

I'm a fairly out-going person, though possibly a little less so upon initially meeting me.

I'm intensely into food, know far too much about it, and strive to be able to cook and appreciate every dish I possibly can. Please show me your foreign foods!

I can be a bit nerdy when it comes down to some topics and fields of science, and get giddy over reading something about apples or deep-sea hydrothermal vents.

I'm a major lover of being outdoors, and exploration, and a firm believer that the best adventuring is when you don't know entirely where you are or where you're going until you get there.

Interests

Apples, Bees, Cephalopods, Coffee, Deep sea marine biology, Exploration, Extremophiles, Food, Foraging, Invertebrates, Knowing something about any topic brought up, Learning random skills, Obscurity, Photography, Plants, Sailing, Spanglish, Surrealism, Tea, Wooden pencils.

A little bit about everything, and definitely anything you're enthusiastic about.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I love watching bizaare and lesser-known films, and appreciate dry, sardonic humor much more over slap-stick comedy.

Music: My tastes are vastly broad, and I honestly like every genre if I hear enough of it (even country). I love electronic though, and groups with terrific, understandable vocals and meaningful lyrics (Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, Regina Spektor...).

Books: I've read a lot of scify, high fantasy since I was a kid, and still do from time to time. I love reading the classics to make myself feel nice and well-rounded, and have read plenty of non-fiction on science, plants, food, history....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stood atop the Great Pyramid at Uxmal and stared off into the distance of the flat-laying forest surrounding me, wondering how grand a civilization would have been around me just a millenia earlier.

Teach, Learn, Share

Every Golden Delicious apple you've ever eaten has come from a tree cloned off the original Golden Delicious, or a clone off a clone. Curious why? Come stay with me and I'll explain =D
