About Me

CURRENT MISSION

On August 1st 2015 two people will abandon the security and stability of comfortable jobs to journey across the globe. We would be eternally grateful to those who open their hearts and homes to us; helping us achieve our dream.

ABOUT ME

Honest and ethical, I thrive in environments that provide opportunities to contribute to a worthwhile cause, enrich my knowledge of a culture, people, or way of life, grow as an individual, and experience all the world has to offer. My wife and I have decided to abandon the stability of our current life to journey across the globe volunteering our time and energy to help individuals, groups, and causes; travelling to remote locations, interviewing those who cross our path, creating awareness of current and future adversity; and documenting our adventure on social media for the world to share in our experience.

PHILOSOPHY

I have spent my life pursuing the typical definition of success... financial and social stability. I am no longer willing to succumb to the status-quo. I want the freedom to experience the amazing places, fascinating people, and myriad of cultures that exist in this captivating world. In my eyes, the purpose of life is to have as many adventures as possible, to positively influence as many people as possible, and to cultivate relationships. If you help me help you I will help you help me, together we can build something great.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I became aware of couchsurfing.org soon after moving to Beijing, China. I started my couchsurfer account on July 27, 2014. Although our apartment is small it is clean and comfortable. We are happy to open our home to those who need a place to stay. I hope to become more involved in the local Beijing couchsurfing community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

To date my experience with couchsurfing is nil. I have heard stories from friends and colleagues but have yet to have my own experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read, watch movies, and listen to music... unfortunately, I have a horrible memory when it comes to names and cannot remember book titles, movie titles, author names, director names, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most memorable experiences I have had is hiking Tiger Leaping Gorge with my amazing wife. The joy I got from this experience is unspeakable. It was amazing because it allowed me the opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of Yunan, China with a person that has reminded me to appreciate the small things in life; things that I often take for granted.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life is an amazing thing, it's a journey, an opportunity. So often we are restrained from following our dreams because we find ourselves pursuing the dreams of others. We have been taught from a young age that success is determined by the number of zeros in your bank account, the size of your house, and the car in your driveway. Break away from this illusion of success. Monetary wealth is not synonymous with success; success is doing what brings you joy. Identify that joy and pursue it.
