I'm an adventurous spirit who recently went through a rough patch so I'm taking off to see the world! I'm a man of many talents: a climber, martial artist, jeweler, woodworker, raft guide, backpacker, philosopher, professional team builder, experimental chef (mostly successful, never deadly), teacher, and all around adventurer. I try to stay open to new experiences and am always looking for the next new story because after all, what is life but a series of stories?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I said, I recently went through a rough patch in my life and have decided it is time to see the world. I caught the traveling bug years ago and now find myself with the opportunity to really take advantage of it. I'm off to see Europe! Maybe work in Australia afterwards. I fly out to London in March and have no other plans other than to travel around for as long as I can, meet as many interesting people as possible, and have some neat adventures. I'm hoping to find some amazing people along the way to put me up for a night or two, show me around, and generally become part of the epic story I'm building.

I'm new to the CS community and don't have references yet, but I'm looking forward to acquiring them along my travels. I'd really appreciate the community helping me out in this. I promise I'm a good visitor!

Interests

Martial arts, high ropes facilitation and teambuilding, hiking and backpacking, learning new skills, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, trying new foods, cooking, attempting to learn harmonica, traveling, country swing dancing, learning new styles of dance, woodworking, lots more that I can't think of right now.

Really I just like having new experiences. Life is too short to turn down cool opportunities.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have pretty eclectic taste and would hate to limit myself by designating things that I like or don't like. I'm open to listening to, reading, or watching just about anything. I will say I absolutely love listening to the blues and Celtic music. Something about them tweaks me just the right way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been a whitewater raft guide on the Arkansas River, backpacked for 17 days through the Gila Wilderness, climbed mountains, taught myself the art of ring making and started my own business.

Worry is simply the abuse of a great imagination!

We enter this world with nothing, we leave it with the same. During the time in between we can be rich or poor, have everything or nothing, be loved or hated, but in the end all that matters is whether we made this world a better place while we were here, or a worse one. Did we leave a trail of smiles or tears? There is no neutral. So I ask of you...what will be your mark in the chronicles of history?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm an excellent cook, have an easygoing personality and am always ready with a joke. I'm clean, self-reliant, and open-minded. Very easy to get along with and very hard to offend. I have also been practicing massage therapy for the last 20 years and can offer my services as a masseur. I'm also happy to help with chores, cleaning, cooking, whatever is needed around the house.
