About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live outside the box.

ABOUT ME

I like to be . . .outside the lines, outside of conformism and exist in a manner that life is meant to be lived. I have been fortunate to see much. I always made decisions based not on what I know I'd like, but by doing the things I knew I would not dislike. Somewhere amidst the journeys I fell in love with wine, its history, its language and the taste of its culture. Somehow it manufactured itself into my profession, one that allows me to be as mobile as the wind, who knows where it will take me?

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short, so live it to the fullest. Stop worrying about what you do not have and be happy for all the things that you do have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been a member for a while, this website is my lifeline on the road and through its resources I met some of the most amazing and hospitable people. I spread the word to fellow travellers with hopes that one day all the doors in the world are unlocked.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As an adolescent my parents treated me with respect. There was no questions like "Where have you been?" I grew up in a very ruralized area and it took 4 towns to make one high-school. My town was the secluded far away town. One of my friends wrote in his wedding newsletter. "Sean has been one of my longest friends and you were always guaranteed if you hung out with him that night, the next morning he would be on your couch." I also spent 2 months in CO without a place to call my own. The essentials were in the trunk of my car and I was always on a couch. I have spent years of my life on couches. At University I slept on my couch for 2 years because it made me more comfortable than the beds they provided.
I have been living so long without what most would define as a home. Being on the road in foreign places has become me, it has become my life and it is my home.

Interests

ROCK CLIMBING, WINE, Scotch, Cognac, outdoors, WRITING, of course travelling, making a difference, even if that difference is made to one person, having fun and living the way I have and not allowing a profession to ever jeopordize that way of life I have come to love

Music, Movies, and Books

All forms of music, particularly reggae, classic rock, blues, jam-bands and the more easy listening kind of stuff. If someone is not around to make new recordings than most likely I like it, you know like the Grateful Dead, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, with exception of Ben Harper, Paul Simon, Xavier Rudd and Michael Franti these few are still filling the charts and my cd books.
Movies: Anything that has a purpose or at the end of it leaves me wanting to watch it all over again to make sure I did not miss anything.
Books: Anything that comes with a good conversational reference.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After graduating from University I was crammed with debt. I dedicated the next year of my life to working and saving as much as possible to become free from the anchoring burden of owing thousands in loans. From here I was able to manufacture enough money to travel the world worry free for 15 months.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have lived through some amazingly hard times both mentally and financially but there are always answers. On the heels of most bad days comes a great one. I like to try to spread love and help others understand that it is okay to be confused and question life. From questions usually come answers, from answers comes a path. From a path comes happiness.
