About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Birth, school, work, death. Let's add some fun in it. So first we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin!!

ABOUT ME

Often you begin to think clearly about your intentions only when someone asks you very specific questions. I say this: "There is a tiny instance in the past and a tiny instance in the future called life. I try to enjoy life as much as possible!!!"

Anyway, I don't like to talk much about myself, I would rather let others discover me!!

PHILOSOPHY

I am a firm believer of Murphy's Laws :-))
Here are some of them:
1. Nothing is as easy as it looks!!
2. Everything takes longer than you think!!
3. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong!!
4. If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong!! Corollary: If there is a worse time for something to go wrong, it will happen then!!
5. Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse!!
6. If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something!!
7. It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious!!

The above are only a small sample of Murphy's Laws. Should you wonder how Murphy's Laws apply to a special case of yours, please let me know, and I will probably be of help.

So, the synopsis of Murphy's Philosophy is: Smile . . . tomorrow will be worse :)))

I have been doing race sailing since I was 15 years old mostly in the LASER class boats. Since 1995 I have been involved in sail yacht racing and since 2001 I have been involved in scuba diving. Isn't it obvious that I love water??? Maybe I was a fish in a previous life!!! I also like going to cinema and theatre. when staying home, I mostly read books and listen to music of every kind.

Music, Movies, and Books

☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Music: I have grown up listening and loving rock at all its variants. My journey started in 1977 with Pink Floyd. Now, thirty years later, I am still travelling in the world of music!!! Well, I also like minimalistic composers such as Wim Mertens and Philip Glass. I also enjoy drinking a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning listening to classical music, such as Vivaldi's "Four Seasons"!!
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Movies: Among films I have enjoyed, I can mention Jane Campion's "The piano" starring Holly Hunter and Harvey Keitel, Thomas Vinterberg's "It's all about love" starring Joaquin Phoenix and Claire Danes, Sidney Pollack's "Havana" starring Robert Redford and Lena Olin, Clint Eastwood's "Million dollar baby" starring Hillary Swank, Anthony Minghella's "The English patient" starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche, "The constant gardener" starring Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz and, of course, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's "Das Leben der Anderen" (aka "The Lives of Others").
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Books: Among the hundreds of books I have read and liked, it would be rather unfair to pick only some of them. Anyway, let me start, saying that I have loved Soti Triantafyllou's "The Pencil Factory" (translations are available in French, German and Catalan) and I have enjoyed Michael Cunningham's "The Hours" and Graham Greene's "The Quiet American". I am currently reading Tony Judt's "Postwar" (a masterly work telling the astonishing history of Europe since the end of the Second World War) as well as Maro Douka's "The floating city" (in German "Die schwimmende Stadt", translated by Norbert Hauser. Frankfurt: Insel Verlag, 1991. 350 pp. ISBN: 3-458-16136-8).
