About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My mission is to explore, create, and celebrate life's journey with the global community of couchsurfers.
PHILOSOPHY
To live in a way that conveys loving kindness to all people, and to see something good in everyone. To help realize a better world built upon peace and happiness where everyone can flourish.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment my flat is far too small to host people so I'm mainly available to meet people for coffee.
I'd like to be able to help people new to the UK to improve their English, and I'd love to learn a language in return.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted and met up with lots of lovely people, and I enjoyed my travels around the US staying with lots of amazing Couchsurfing hosts.
Interests
Many of my interests flow from my desire to live in increasing harmony with the world around me, both environmentally and socially, and to understand more of other times, places, and cultures. I really enjoy cooking Vegan food, cycling, and seeking creative ways to campaign for peace and social justice. I am interested in social and cultural history, and I especially enjoy reading about history, politics and philosophy, religion and spirituality, as well as creative literature. I am not a musician but am a musical person and I love to dance, sing and bounce around whenever I get the chance! I love to travel, and I'd particularly like to visit the Middle East and Japan. Being true to the island that I've happened to inhabit for the last 24 years, I've developed a special fondness for tea and the great sport of cricket.
And judging by the length of this section, it seems that I like writing essays too!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music I'm currently listening to includes Animal Collective, Efterklang, Belle & Sebastian, Magnetic Fields, Fever Ray, Talking Heads, The Shins..mostly indie/new wave stuff but I like jazz, blues, soul as well.
I've been watching a lot of international cinema recently, I'd say 'Talk to Her', 'Mysterious Object at Noon', 'The Class', and 'Afterlife' were the highlights...all uniquely powerful films. I love anime films, especially those of Hayao Miyazaki, with Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away being particular favourites.
I love Dostoyevsky's novels' such as the Brothers Karamazov and The Idiot. I like travel books too, especially by Michael Palin!
I've recently read 'Kafka on the Shore' by Haruki Murakami, and was entranced by his wonderful blending of reality and the imagination. Another book I've enjoyed recently is The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barberry. I'm currently reading and enjoying Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder.
I've read lots of great comics and manga recently like Art Spielgelman's Maus, Fun Home and Dykes to Watch Out for by Alison Bechdel, and Bamboo Blade by Masahiro Totsuka.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can make wallets from tetra packs using only a pair of scissors and an elastic band!
I really like cooking good wholesome Vegan food for whoever happens to be around when I'm cooking. Making food for other people is something that brings me a lot of happiness.
I would like like to learn more about growing organic fruit and veg, and about carpentry. I think having a trade skill could be useful when travelling!
I'd really like to learn Arabic and Japanese (two cultures that particularly facinate me), and to improve my French and German.
