ABOUT ME

I am 54 years old, married, and I have one daughter (Chloe). I consider myself to be a citizen of the world. Travel is my passion. I have been learning Italian with the intentions of teaching abroad someday. I love the outdoors, horses, fine wine, the country of Italy, and learning about new cultures. One of my favorite quotes: "Cultural tolerance comes to nothing without cultural understanding" Henry Louis Gates Jr.

PHILOSOPHY

I try always to be grateful to the universe! Travel brings people and cultures together for greater understanding, appreciation, and education. Travel itself is the greatest education! Unfortunately, my country has done a very poor job of being a steward to the world. My hope is to be welcome wherever I go in the world because I am respectful and kind to others. Travel to me is not about staying at fancy hotels, but getting to know the locals on a personal level. I want to know about others' everyday lives when I travel. This brings much meaning to my experiences and only serves to build closer bonds with other world citizens.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As of 11/11/08, I am new to this couch surfing site;however, I have been couch surfing in Europe on my own. My intentions are to provide my couch whenever possible and promote this site by word of mouth.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have slept in many places(couches, convents, airports, train stations, trains, planes);I wouldn't even mind sleeping in a barn (I grew up on a farm)! I just want to travel!

I watch mostly foreign films and love a variety of music. Some of my favorite reads include: Three Cups of Tea, Shantaram (SP?), Eat, Pray, Love, The Power of One, Glass Castle, The Razor's Edge, most anything Hemmingway, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Foremost, I have given birth! Life is mostly amazing!

I want to share my beautiful part of the world. I want to learn Italian fluently. I am willing to share my home to spread global peace and understanding.
