About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Becoming a scholar in Sociology, contribute to the scientific field, trying to make a positive impact on society and my close relations … and venture into happiness :)

ABOUT ME

People think I am easygoing, social, outgoing and witty - I personally don't always think so. But there you go: I guess "self" is a rather fluid concept anyway (oh, those bloody sociologists!)

What I have been following through to some extend and what I set as my principal measure in life was to live fairly humanistic, meaning to find this damn balance everybody refers to when talking about "living a good life".
The finnish have a nice word for it: kohtuullinen, meaning "reasonable". Another phrase my closest friend an I coined is "sweet-spotting", meaning: finding the sweet spot of being excited and getting into a flow but not overdoing it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Always an enriching thing to surf and host!

Interests

Hiking, Yoga, meditating, dancing, swimming, via-ferrata, low-carb-diet, some running, well cooked dishes, books, meeting people and living live with them while making real contact (that's when 2 human beings engage in another's world); and I love getting hooked by good TV-series (Homeland, Game of Thrones, Altered Carbon, Westworld, House of Cards, Borgen, …)

I do love my work as a PhD student: I have all the liberties to deepen my knowledge and hone my skills. This is a truly special situation in life! In particular I do research on delinquency of people aged between 20 and 30 years. I am very much into quantitative analysis. And I love teaching and figuring out how learning is best achieved.

Also, I'm interested in how much the structure we as human beings are in determine the perception of our choices and how limited we are but actually don't know about it.
