About Me

I am an Australian currently living a nomadic lifestyle (mainly in Europe and North Africa). I started my adventure in December 2020, and I’ve found that I’ve learnt more about myself and the world through travel than I ever thought I would. For me right now life is about having an abundance of experiences and living with purpose. I love being creative (sketching, painting, jewellery making, ceramics, mosaics), practising yoga, rock climbing, hiking and camping, reading and learning new skills :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What better way to have an authentic experience of a place than staying with locals! I love learning new cultures, languages, trying new foods and most importantly having genuine connections with people and interesting conversations. I hope that I’ll find life long friends here like I have in my previous years of travel :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all kinds of music and it changes as my mood does. If I’m going out I enjoying going to techno/dnb raves but can also have a fun night dancing to mainstream radio music. I love listening to any form of live music from classical orchestra to jazz to folk.

I love autobiographies and books about anthropology. Sapiens, memory code, the book thief, the promise of a pencil, the alchemist, NVC: A language of life - all great books that I highly recommend!

I don’t watch movies often but I like everything BUT horror, I don’t like to mess with the spirit world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quit my job and started traveling?! Traveling wise it’s hard to decide as it’s been a very full few years. One of the things that challenged me the most was my longest one day hitchhike (around 750km) from a little mountain village in the south of turkey to a uni city close to Istanbul. The whole trip took over 12 hours but the experiences I had that day and the lessons I learnt, made it well worth it!

I also completed a double traverse hike across the Šar and Korab mountain ranges (Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo). Previously I had dabbled a bit with day hikes but nothing like this. 11 people, 11 days, a gps to guide us, no proper trail or signs, camping in the cold mountains, thunderstorms, carrying 25-30kg bags with all our food. Least to say, I learnt a lot about myself, group hiking and nature and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am not much of a preacher when it comes to traveling as everyone has different styles and levels of comfort. But I do love a good chat and to share stories. These stories can teach a lot and also be the catalyst to more in depth conversations.

I am a big learner and love to converse with people who are open minded. I think it’s great if someone has a different perspective, that’s how we learn!

Sharing is how we teach and learn and I’m an open book. You can ask me anything and I will answer honestly, and probably through a story :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a passion for food and cooking. I can cook according to any health requirements or preferences (I’ve volunteered as a private cook for woman with health conditions). I can help with art projects, gardening, animal care, groceries (especially if there’s a local market around), teaching English or tutoring. I can also help with construction and woodwork but may need some guidance.
